FIR Against Durga Puja: The Complainant Arrested

mahishasur

Lokesh Sori who protested the Mahisashur vadh during Durga Puja and filed an FIR against puja committee members has been arrested. Saturday night the members of the organising committee filed an FIR against him to which the police acted quickly. His whereabouts are unknown. One source says that he has been sent to Kanker jail. Another source says that he is kept under police custody and yet to be produced before the SDM court.

On the contrary people mentioned in his case are shown as absconding and yet to be arrested. This is a serious matter where those who have named in a case are roaming scot-free, while an Adivasi leader – who also happens to be the District Vice-President of SC/ST Morcha – languishes in jail. Please call the TI Pakjanjor +919479194104/ +919479194118; SP K.N. Dhruw +919479194100 for further information and help us ensure the safety of Sori.

Last week in Pakhanjor of Kanker district of Chhattisgarh the Adivasi Moolnivasis first warned the authorities not to permit the non-Adivasis to celebrate Durga pooja and defame their devta Mahishasur. It is assumed that the district administration had warned the pooja committee members too. When this could not prevent members of Adivasi-Moolnivasi organisation went ahead to register an FIR against the insult on Mahishasura. Lokesh Sori the Kanker district Vice-President of SC/ST Morcha was the applicant and a case has been registered under sections 153(a), 295(a) and 298 of IPC.
