Imperialism has initiated acts prelude to military aggression in Venezuela. These are parts of imperialism’s interventionist activities.

Media reports said:

US military planes have been delivering “humanitarian aid” (“humaid”) for Venezuela in the Colombian border town of Cucuta.

The “humaid” is being stockpiled at the request of Juan Guaidó, who declared himself interim president of Venezuela last month.

President Nicolás Maduro has alleged that the “humaid” is part of a US plot to disguise an invasion into Venezuela.

Guaidó said some 600,000 volunteers would carry the aid across the border on 23 February.

The deliveries of “humaid” are believed to be instrumental in ousting Venezuelan President Maduro.

The “humaid” is being sent in efforts to boost a plan to oust Venezuelan President Maduro, according to The New York Times.

The “humaid” is being delivered via Boeing C-17 US military cargo planes, and is estimated to cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

John Bolton said on Twitter:

“The U.S. military is delivering this peaceful, humanitarian-assistance in response to the urgent and emergency conditions the Venezuelans are facing, and in response to requests by Interim President Juan Guaido and Venezuela’s National Assembly.”

He said:

“The U.S. military has delivered hundreds of tons of aid to partner nations over the last five years. The United States is proud to mobilize whole-of-government support for its partners in need, including Venezuelan President Guaido and the people of Venezuela.”

John Bolton also said:

“The U.S. is wheels up and headed for Cucuta with more humanitarian assistance. Over the next several days, the United States will deliver over 180 metric tons of supplies, including hygiene kits, food items, and other supplies to be prepositioned for Venezuela.”

Maduro has ordered armed forces to be ready to counter conspiracies and provocations.

The US State Department is preparing to evacuate the US embassy from Caracas. The department has kept a small team in place that may have to be pulled out quickly if the security situation suddenly deteriorates.

US military adventure against Venezuela must be stopped: Cuba

Cuba said: Military adventure in Venezuela is imminent. Cuba has called on the international community to prevent the military adventure.

Following is a statement from the government of Cuba on Venezuela [excerpts]:

The Revolutionary Government of Cuba condemns the escalation of pressures and actions by the US government in preparation for a military adventure under the guise of a “humanitarian intervention” in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and calls on the international community to mobilize in order to prevent its consummation.

After the resistance mounted by the Bolivarian and Chavista people against the coup, evidenced by the mass demonstrations in support of President Maduro, and the loyalty of the Bolivarian Armed Forces, the US government has intensified its international political and media campaign, and strengthened unilateral economic coercive measures against Venezuela causing serious humanitarian damage and harsh deprivation to its people.

In addition to this cruel and unjustifiable plunder, the US intends to fabricate a humanitarian pretext in order to launch a military attack on Venezuela and, by resorting to intimidation, pressure, and force, is seeking to introduce into this sovereign nation’s territory alleged humanitarian aid — which is 1,000 times inferior as compared to the economic damages provoked by the siege imposed by Washington.

The usurper and self-proclaimed “President” shamelessly announced his disposition to call for a US military intervention, and has described the sovereign and honorable rejection of that maneuver as a crime against humanity.

High-ranking US officials have been arrogantly and blatantly reminding us all, day after day, that when it comes to Venezuela, “all options are on the table, including military action”.

In the process of fabricating pretexts, the US government has resorted to deception and slanders, and calls for taking the necessary steps.

It is obvious that the United States is paving the way to forcibly establish a humanitarian corridor under international supervision, invoke the obligation to protect civilians and take all necessary steps.

Similar behaviors and pretexts were used by the US during the prelude to wars it launched against Yugoslavia, Iraq, and Libya, which resulted in tremendous human losses and caused enormous suffering.

The US government attempts to remove the biggest obstacle — the Bolivarian and Chavista Revolution — to imperialist domination of ‘Our America’ and deprive the Venezuelan people of the largest certified oil reserves on the planet and numerous strategic natural resources.

It is impossible to forget the sad and painful history of US military interventions perpetrated more than once in Mexico, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, Honduras, and most recently Grenada and Panama.

History will severely judge a new imperialist military intervention in the region and the complicity of those who might irresponsibly support it.

What is at stake today in Venezuela is the sovereignty and dignity of Latin America and the Caribbean and the peoples of the South. Equally at stake is the survival of the rule of International Law and the UN Charter. What is being defined today is whether the legitimacy of a government emanates from the express and sovereign will of its people, or from the recognition of foreign powers.

Cuba calls for an international mobilization in defense of peace in Venezuela and the region, based on the principles established in the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, which was adopted by heads of state and government of CELAC in 2014.

It likewise welcomes and supports the Montevideo Mechanism, based on the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of states, legal equality of states, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

It welcomes the positive consideration given to this initiative by President Maduro and the international community, and expresses its concern given the US government’s categorical rejection of the dialogue initiatives promoted by several countries, including this one.

The Revolutionary Government of Cuba reiterates its firm and unwavering solidarity with Constitutional President Nicolás Maduro Moros, the Bolivarian Chavista Revolution and the civic and military unity of its people, and calls upon all peoples and governments of the world to defend peace and mount a joint opposition, over and above political or ideological differences, to a new imperialist military intervention in Latin America and the Caribbean, which will damage the independence, sovereignty and interests of all peoples from the Rio Bravo to Patagonia.

Latin American left parties call for peace

“Let’s not let the war destroy our America,” said the left-wing Latin American parties and movements.

According to the social movements, “drums of war sound today” in the region, because of the U.S.-backed crisis in Venezuela.

These movements call for a political agreement, not a war, in order to solve the current situation.

Leftist political parties and movements from Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru and Colombia signed a communiqué on February 14, calling for dialogue, peace and respect for democracy in the face of the current situation in Venezuela.

These parties and movements also denounced that the economic sanctions of the U.S. and other countries, the rejection of dialogue, and interventionist threats that exacerbate the crisis and stress the global scenario. “The possibility of a violent confrontation in the region, which expands from Venezuela to neighboring countries, is a latent risk that can end with peaceful coexistence,” in the region.

The leftists also accused the U.S. of commanding the aggression, and organizations such as the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Lima Group for “disregarding the right to self-determination of peoples” only to “make a point.”

These organizations have proposed creating dialogue channels that would allow the restoration of tranquility to the Venezuelan people and avoid the use of force.

The parties and organizations warned, “Any necessary aid should not be politicized, and these tasks should be carried out in the framework of what is proposed by specialized international agencies.”

The political organizations congratulated the efforts made in Uruguay to create dialogue channels to generate an agreement mechanism and an International Contact Group. “Only those who want a war scenario can deny the importance of both processes and their complementarities.”

“Popular organizations, social movements and human rights defenders, both from Venezuela and the region, have a role to play, building trust and promoting peace,” they said.

The signatory parties and movements are the Common Party, the Autonomist Movement, from Ecuador, the Citizen Revolution Movement; the New Peru Movement, the PSOL Socialist Left Movement (MES-PSOL), the Common Force, Power and Unity, and the Democratic Pole.

Artists, journalists, intellectuals

Several groups of artists, journalists, intellectuals and social groups from around Latin America have shown their support for Venezuela, its Bolivarian Government, and have rejected any interventionist acts perpetrated by the U.S.

In Argentina, the group of intellectuals Carta Abierta met in Buenos Aires to state their support to President Maduro, in the face of the U.S. attacks.

In a statement – “Our Support for the Government of Nicolas Maduro” – the group assured that the attacks suffered by Venezuela are part of the “most brutal exercise of a new act of imperial domination, of decrepit imperial domination.”

In this sense, the Argentine group of intellectuals assured that the conflict in Venezuela stems not only from U.S. interests for oil and wealth of the South American country, but also there a clear intention to subjugate Latin America to their control after political processes that have promoted Marti-inspired “Sandino, Peron, Fidel, Lula, Chavez, Kirchner, Evo Morales.”

The Argentine chapter of the Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity (REDH) released a statement on Friday, saying, “Macri does not represent us. Venezuela must be respected,” and elevating their voice of discontent against the countries that make up the Lima Group, or “Lima Cartel” as they called it in their statement.

US is afraid of the truth of Venezuela: Arreaza:

The Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Jorge Arreaza spoke to teleSUR, saying, “the United States is afraid of Venezuela’s words, it is afraid of the truth of Venezuela,” as a response to the U.S. Department of State’s decision to confine Venezuelan diplomat Samuel Moncada within the city of New York.

According to Arreaza, the U.S. action means to shut out the voice of the legitimate government of Venezuela. “They cannot shut us up in the #OAS. Venezuela will leave the OAS on April 27, 2019, not before. Until that day, we will fulfill our duties,” Arreaza said.

He also reiterated that it was Venezuela’s decision to leave the OAS in 2017 and that it won’t be banned from the organization before April 27.

Arreaza also stated that Venezuela is ready to respond to whatever threat that may come.

US orders Venezuelan envoy to UN to limit movement within New York City

Venezuelan ambassador to the UN Samuel Moncada has been ordered by the U.S. State Department to confine his stay in the U.S. to the city of New York just a day after he delivered a scathing speech at a meeting of the Organization of American States in Washington D.C.

Speaking at the OAS meeting, Moncada slammed the U.S. and OAS chief Luis Almagro for their blatant and public attempts for regime change in Venezuela in order to install a “dictatorship” in line with the interests of Washington.

He revealed discussions by the U.S. and its allies on their plans for a scenario in which Guaido, who declared himself president, would not have to call for elections as the right-wing opposition will claim that the election system is flawed and need to be changed before calling for new elections.

He also went on to say the Venezuelan legitimate government has not been expelled from the body as such a decision would need the support of 24 members, which the U.S. and its allies have repeatedly failed to have.

Moncada said: “Mr. Trump proclaimed himself the owner and lord of the natural resources, territories and inhabitants of that colony that he now calls Venezuela, and we have a real epidemic of self-proclamations.”

He then explained that the U.S.-backed coup d’état against the Bolivarian government is only effective in Washington, “where everyone celebrates the sacking of our nation, but it is a failure in Venezuela.”

He argued that the self-proclaimed “interim president” Guaido is the one who is defending the measures of economic suffocation against our people because the measures produce suffering so that the military decide to support him.

“If you want to help Venezuela, do not threaten us with war and return what has been stolen,” the diplomat said.
