After a long battle, Kashmiri Muslim girl, Safoora Zargar has been granted bail by the Delhi High court on the Humanitarian ground.Zargar was arrested on 10th of April and has been charged under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for her alleged role in the North East Delhi that broke out in the month of February. She is 23 week pregnant and suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome which may lead to miscarriage of the unborn child. A PhD Scholar of Jamia Millia Islamia got bail at the expense of her character assassination by the bogus nationalists.
The news of her pregnancy spread like bush fire from social media to Godi media. Social media users started denigrating a women’s character on fallacious grounds. Numbers of symposium held in front of the whole nation to discuss the extraneous subject for the sake of their TRPs.Many social media posts targeting the activist as unwed and indistinctive women ,reflecting their vitriolic trolling towards the activist, students and many others exposed to on daily basis.
There are thousands of tweets floating around on social media maligning her character. This only portraying the sexism and islamophobia that pervades our society. And there is nothing new about this either. Whenever Women tried to stand against the evil system they have been subjugated .Being unwed and pregnant in this patriarchal society is looked down even among the educated moron.
While Safoora Zargar is not unmarried, and even if she were, the question of her pregnancy still affixed with the activist alone. We do not have the rights or even moral responsibility to raise questions against her confidential life. And the fact is that those who chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” deny women to have autonomy on their bodies. These are the fake nationalists.
