A new Australian Labor Government was elected in May 2022, replacing an appalling Liberal Party-National Party Coalition Government. However after a mere 6 months decent, progressive, pro-environment and pro-peace Australians have already been disappointed by a cowardly and unprincipled Labor Government not meeting its pre-election rhetoric on matters ranging from banning nuclear weapons to strong action on climate change.
Set out below are details of 15 key areas in which the new Australian Labor Government has failed decent, informed progressive Australians and the Kindness and Truth test for political decency:
(1). The Australian Labor Government reversed Coalition recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital but with false and anti-Jewish anti-Semitic conflation of all Jews with Apartheid Israel and its policies, and stating fervent support for Apartheid Israel and Australian Zionists but not for Palestinian human rights.
Labor Government reversal of Coalition recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital was foreshadowed by Shadow FM (Foreign Minister) Penny Wong in December 2018. Fervently pro-Zionist FM Wong: “This government will not waver in its support of Israel and the Jewish community in Australia… [Coalition decision] put Australia out of step with the majority of the international community. This was a cynical play, unsuccessful, to win the seat of Wentworth in a byelection. And what the people saw was the prime minister of the day trying to play foreign policy in order to win votes in a seat” [1].
Fervently pro-Zionist PM Anthony Albanese: “Of course some things can always be done better, but the truth is we have been very clear about what our position was [pre-election]. The Morrison government said that they were going to move the embassy to Jerusalem and they would recognise Jerusalem as the capital. They said that the embassy would move; it of course didn’t move. They made an announcement, [and] once the [2018] by-election was over the embassy didn’t move” [2].
UNSC Resolution 2334 (2016) was passed unanimously except for abstention by the US, and stated in part : “1. Reaffirms that the establishment by Israel of settlements in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, has no legal validity and constitutes a flagrant violation under international law and a major obstacle to the achievement of the two-State solution and a just, lasting and comprehensive peace;
“2. Reiterates its demand that Israel immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, and that it fully respect all of its legal obligations in this regard;
“3. Underlines that it will not recognize any changes to the 4 June 1967 lines, including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties through negotiations” [3-5].
The new Labor Government’s decision was ferociously criticized by Zionists, Apartheid Israel, and by an anonymous Zionist Labor MP but was supported by the New Israel Fund Australia (pro-Zionist but also pro-democracy), Antony Loewenstein ( anti-racist Jewish Australian writer, Jerusalem Al Quds Peace Prize winner, and author of various books, notably “My Israel Question”), pro-Palestinian human rights groups like APAN (the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network), and Free Palestine Melbourne, and by Australia’s important, populous, democratic and largely Muslim near neighbour, Indonesia [1].
(2). The Australian Labor Government violated its pre-election promise and Labor Party Policy to ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), and abstained from the UNGA motion supporting the TPNW in deference to its TPNW-violating close military links with its nuclear-armed allies, the US, UK, France and Apartheid Israel.
The Australian Labor Government, not content with betraying the poor and Palestinians, has betrayed Humanity and the Biosphere by refusing to support the latest UNGA vote on the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). Nuclear weapons existentially threaten Australia, Humanity and the Biosphere, but Australia is deeply complicit in US, UK, France and Apartheid Israeli nuclear terrorism through intimate diplomatic, military, commercial and research collaborations. Australia-backed and genocidally racist Apartheid Israel has 100 nuclear weapons, Germany-supplied submarine delivery systems, and other delivery systems. However the newly-elected Australian Labor Government has blatantly broken its election promise to follow Labor Party Policy and support the TPNW nuclear weapons ban.
Before the 21 May 2022 Australian Federal election, the Labor Party Leader Anthony Albanese was very public as a supporter of the TPNW. Thus Anthony Albanese (2018): “Nuclear weapons are the most destructive, inhumane and indiscriminate weapons ever created. Today we have an opportunity to take a step towards their elimination… Gareth Evans, one of Labor’s great Foreign Ministers, spoke just a couple of weeks ago at the Tom Uren Lecture that I host in my electorate. He said that the difficulty of achieving disarmament was no excuse for inaction. He said and I quote: “Nuclear disarmament is core business for any Labor government worth the name.” And that is why I am pleased that this motion before us today says that Labor in government will sign and ratify the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons”… I believe that unless we do move down towards the path of disarmament, then we know the concern that the global community, including us right here, felt when North Korea was so close to being in a position whereby someone erratic would have their finger on a button. That’s why we need to be a part of the global community. This resolution is Labor at our best. It enables us to participate in the debate in a constructive way and move it forward. I commend the resolution to the conference” [6]. The pro-TPNW motion was passed by the Australian Labor Party in 2018 and subsequently re-affirmed in 2021 [7].
Australia, is second only to America as a supporter of nuclear terrorist Apartheid Israel, and in promising to ratify the TPNW Labor would have been deliberately intending to violate the TPNW, specifically in relation to items (e), (f) and (g) of the Article 1 Prohibitions [8-10]: “Article 1 Prohibitions. (1). Each State Party undertakes never under any circumstances to: (a). Develop, test, produce, manufacture, otherwise acquire, possess or stockpile nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices;
(b). Transfer to any recipient whatsoever nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices or control over such weapons or explosive devices directly or indirectly;
(c). Receive the transfer of or control over nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices directly or indirectly;
(d). Use or threaten to use nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices;
(e). Assist, encourage or induce, in any way, anyone to engage in any activity prohibited to a State Party under this Treaty;
(f). Seek or receive any assistance, in any way, from anyone to engage in any activity prohibited to a State Party under this Treaty;
(g). Allow any stationing, installation or deployment of any nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices in its territory or at any place under its jurisdiction or control” [8-10].
The Albanese Australian Labor Government has violated its pre-election promise and Labor Party Policy to sign and ratify the TPNW.
(3). Under the Coalition Australian merely abstained from the UNGA Anti-Nazi Resolution in 2021, but under the Albanese Labor Government Australia voted No to the Draft UNGA Anti-Nazi resolution in November 2022, a rare and appalling instance in which Labor was worse than the Coalition (for 6 million obvious reasons Israel has always voted Yes to this annual Anti-Nazi Resolution).
51 countries by abstention (49) and No vote (2; the US and Ukraine) refused to support the UNGA’s December 2021 Anti-Nazi Resolution for “Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance”. All of these countries except Japan were European. Excepting Argentina, Israel, Serbia and Switzerland the members of the 35-nation, all-European, and US-allied Zionist International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) rejected the Resolution. Coalition-ruled Australia disgracefully abstained i.e. it refused to support the UNGA Anti-Nazi Resolution. 130 decent countries voted Yes to the Anti-Nazi Resolution [11, 12]. Even Apartheid Israel voted Yes. However Australia under Labor voted No together with all other members of the anti-Jewish anti-Semitic, anti-Arab anti-Semitic and holocaust-ignoring International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) excepting Argentina, Israel, Serbia and Switzerland (see item #4 below) [11-13].
However in November 2022 a Labor-ruled Australia joined a group of 52 countries (also including the US and Ukraine) in voting No to the Draft UNGA Anti-Nazi Resolution. Le Monde (France) reported: “As it has every year since 2012, on Friday, November 4, the Russian Federation submitted a draft resolution before the United Nations (UN) General Assembly against the glorification of Nazism, urging vigilance against modern forms of xenophobia and reinstatement of the Third Reich. This non-binding resolution was adopted by a majority of countries (105 votes in favor, 52 against and 15 abstentions) during the 77th session of the UN General Assembly’s Committee on Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Issues, commonly known as the “Third Committee.” Among the countries that voted against the text were France and all the European states… Each year, this resolution is endorsed by a large majority. It was adopted on December 16, 2021, by 130 votes for, 2 against (United States and Ukraine) and 49 abstentions” [14]. Note that in WW2 27 million Soviet citizens, mostly Russians, perished in the Nazi invasion of the USSR [15].
Countries voting No in 2022 (52) included all member countries of the IHRA except Argentina, Israel, Serbia and Switzerland (IHRA members in bold): Albania, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kiribati, Latvia, Liberia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mali, Malta, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, N. Macedonia, Norway, Papua, Poland, Portugal, Rep. Moldova, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, UK, U.S. [14, 16, 17].
Countries Abstaining in 2022 (15) included 2 IHRA members Serbia and Switzerland (IHRA members in bold) (15): Antigua, Congo, Dominican Rep., Ecuador, Egypt, Mexico, Myanmar, Palau, Panama, Rep. of Korea, Samoa, Serbia, Switzerland, Tonga, Turkiye [14, 16, 17].
IHRA members Argentina and Israel were among 105 countries which voted Yes for the 2022 Anti-Nazi Resolution [14, 16, 17].
The 35 members of the IHRA in 2022 are largely ethnically European, namely Argentina, Australia, Austria,, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States [12, 13].
The term neo-Nazi has a precise meaning for political scientists but is variously loosely used to describe racist and fascist Right-wing extremists. “Neo-Nazi” could well describe those refusing to support the UNGA Anti-Nazi Resolution.
(4). Both the Zionist-subverted Labor Government and the Zionist-subverted Coalition Opposition support the anti-Jewish anti-Semitic, anti-Arab anti-Semitic and holocaust-ignoring International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) of which Australia continues to be a member under the Australian Labor Government.
The IHRA Definition of anti-Semitism has been widely used to falsely defame and side-line anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish critics of genocidally racist Zionism and Apartheid Israel, a notable victim being Jeremy Corbyn, the most staunchly anti-racist UK Labour leader ever [18- 20]. Indeed over 40 anti-racist Jewish organizations have condemned the IHRA on this account [19]. The IHRA Definition of anti-Semitism is anti-Jewish anti-Semitic (by falsely defaming anti-racist Jews critical of the crimes of Apartheid Israel), anti-Arab anti-Semitic (by falsely defaming anti-racist Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims critical of the crimes of Apartheid Israel), and holocaust-ignoring (ignoring all WW2 holocausts other than the WW2 Jewish Holocaust). The utterly appalling WW2 Jewish Holocaust (5-6 million Jews killed through violence or deprivation) was part of a wider WW2 European Holocaust (30 million Slavs, Jews and Gypsies killed by the Nazis) [5]. Indeed the Eastern Theatre of WW2 was associated with the WW2 Chinese Holocaust (35-40 million Chinese killed under Japanese Occupation, 1937-1945) and the 1942-1945 WW2 Bengali Holocaust (WW2 Indian Holocaust, WW2 Bengal Famine) in which the British with Australian complicity deliberately starved 6-7 million Indians to death for strategic reasons in Bengal and in the neighbouring provinces of Assam, Orissa and Bihar [15, 20].
Of the 35 member countries of the all-European, mostly nuclear terrorist, racist, mendacious, anti-Jewish anti-Semitic, anti-Arab anti-Semitic and holocaust-ignoring IHRA:
(1) all 35 are largely ethnically European, namely Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States;
(2) the 5 outside of Europe (Argentina, Australia, Canada, Apartheid Israel, and the USA) are societies based on horrendous genocide of the Indigenous inhabitants [15];
(3) 4 are nuclear terrorist states (Apartheid Israel, the UK, France, and the US, with nuclear weapons totalling 100, 120, 300 and 5,400, respectively) [21-23];
(4) of the 30 members in Europe, all but 4 (Austria, Ireland, Serbia, and Switzerland), i.e. 26*, belong to nuclear-armed NATO (together with Canada and the US), and thus support nuclear mass murder of women, children and men as an acceptable military strategy (* assuming that the Sweden and Finland applications to join NATO are approved) [24];
(5) of the 30 members in Europe, 9 were variously allies of Nazi Germany and thus were notably complicit in the WW2 Jewish Holocaust and the WW2 European Holocaust (Austria, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, and Romania) [15];
(6) of the 35 members, 14 were notably involved in the brutal conquest and genocide of Indigenous non-European people (Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Apartheid Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the UK and the USA) [15];
(7) of the 35 members, 28* are among the 32* members of nuclear-armed NATO, namely (non-IHRA NATO members in bold): Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland*, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden*, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States (* assuming that the Sweden and Finland applications to join NATO are approved) [24];
(8) of the 35 members, only 2 (Austria and Ireland) have had the moral decency to sign and ratify the Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) that was the great accomplishment of the Melbourne-founded and 2017 Nobel Prize-winning International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) [25].
Both the Australian Labor Government and the Coalition Opposition support the anti-Jewish anti-Semitic, anti-Arab anti-Semitic and holocaust-ignoring International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) of which Australia continues to be a member under the Australian Labor Government. Addressing Zionists in 2021, Opposition Leader Albanese re a Labor Government support for the IHRA Definition of antisemitism:“Yes, that is a very clear answer… I think it is critical that there be leadership on those issues and against any form of racism. Silence doesn’t work when it comes to racism” [26].
(5). The Labor leadership falsely rejects the International Law term “Apartheid” as applied to Apartheid Israel by leading human rights groups and South African heroes in the fight against South African Apartheid.
The Labor leadership falsely opposes the term “apartheid” applied to Israeli apartheid, and opposes Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Apartheid Israel.
With regard to the use of the term “apartheid” in relation to Israel, as Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese in addressing Zionists falsely and offensively stated (2021): “The use of terms like apartheid is not only inappropriate for describing the Israeli political system and structure, it also cheapens the struggle against apartheid that occurred in South Africa. It’s a dangerous thing when people look for simplistic terms that are ahistorical because they are not only offensive to the people and structures to which they’re directed, they’re offensive to where the terms originated” [26].
The reality is that important human rights groups including Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Israeli Yesh Din and Israeli B’Tselem have concluded that Israel is an apartheid state. Thus, for example, Amnesty International (2022): “Amnesty International’s new investigation shows that Israel imposes a system of oppression and domination against Palestinians across all areas under its control: in Israel and the OPT, and against Palestinian refugees, in order to benefit Jewish Israelis. This amounts to apartheid as prohibited in international law. Laws, policies and practices which are intended to maintain a cruel system of control over Palestinians, have left them fragmented geographically and politically, frequently impoverished, and in a constant state of fear and insecurity” [28]. B’Tselem (Israeli human rights group; the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories) (2021): “Today, B’Tselem published a new position paper that details how the Israeli regime enacts in all the territory it controls (Israeli sovereign territory, East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip) an apartheid regime. One organizing principle lies at the base of a wide array of Israeli policies: advancing and perpetuating the supremacy of one group – Jews – over another – Palestinians” [29].
Eminent South Africa international law professor, Professor John Dugard on the International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the crime of Apartheid: “The Apartheid Convention was the ultimate step in the condemnation of apartheid as it not only declared that apartheid was unlawful because it violated the Charter of the United Nations, but in addition it declared apartheid to be criminal. The Apartheid Convention was adopted by the General Assembly on 30 November 1973, by 91 votes in favour, four against (Portugal, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States) and 26 abstentions. It came into force on 18 July 1976. As of August 2008, it has been ratified by 107 States… That the Apartheid Convention is intended to apply to situations other than South Africa is confirmed by its endorsement in a wider context in instruments adopted before and after the fall of apartheid” [30].
Numerous anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish heroes in the fight against Apartheid in South Africa have condemned the Israeli equivalent including Ronnie Kasrils (“I try in vain to recall anything quite as obscene in apartheid South Africa” and 4 South African Nobel Laureates, namely Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, J.M. Coetzee, and Nadine Gordimer (“The way people are treated in the occupied territories is exactly the way the blacks were treated in South Africa”). Indeed the architect of South African Apartheid, Dr Hendrik Verwoerd, stated “Israel, like South Africa, is an apartheid state” [27].
Eminent anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish leaders, scholars, artists and writers around the world have publicly condemned Israeli apartheid and the horrendous abuse of Palestinian human rights [27]. Thus, for example, Professor Noam Chomsky (outstanding, anti-racist Jewish American linguistics scholar at the prestigious, 100-Nobel-Laureate Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston, Massachusetts, USA) (2015): “In the Occupied Territories, what Israel is doing is much worse than apartheid. To call it apartheid is a gift to Israel, at least if by ‘apartheid’ you mean South African-style apartheid. What is happening in the Occupied Territories is much worse. There is a crucial difference. The South African Nationalists needed the black population. That was their workforce… The Israeli relationship to the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories is totally different. They just do not want them. They want them out, or at least in prison” [27, 31].
(6). The Australian Labor Party (ALP) leadership is opposed to Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israeli Apartheid and its supporters – yet peaceful Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions ended Apartheid in South Africa and those violating them were condemned and sanctioned as international pariahs.
Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) are recognized as peaceful means to bring social justice, and were applied successfully in the period 1960-1994 to bring an end to the obscene apartheid regime in South Africa. The same peaceful means was advocated by Mahatma Gandhi and brought an end to rapacious British colonialism in India [15]. Those violating international anti-apartheid sanctions against Apartheid in South Africa (even for good motives like some West Indies cricketers and musician Paul Simon) were regarded as pariahs and subject to boycotts and sanctions themselves. Decent, anti-racist folk around the world are presently applying Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against genocidally racist Apartheid Israel and all its racist supporters, just as decent people successfully applied such measures to bring an end to Apartheid in South Africa.
However, Labor Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese addressing Zionists (March 2022): “[I regard BDS campaign] as one that is based upon a racial targeting of a group, in this case Israel. I pledge to you our ongoing opposition to the BDS, and as well, to recognise that with the rise of antisemitism and racism, be it the rise on the extreme right but also on the extreme left, that there is a need to provide increased support for the community, including schools and places of worship” and (re a pro-BDS motion for the ALP NSW conference): “I assure you that there is no prospect of the NSW conference carrying any resolution like that and there’s no support for it from any significant figures who hold current positions in the Labor Party. There isn’t a single member of my caucus that supports that position, not one” [26].
Re the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign, Labor Shadow FM Wong noted (March 2022): “Anthony [Albanese] and I have been very clear about our opposition to BDS…The person who led the opposition to that in the local context was Anthony Albanese well before he became more senior – so he has a long and consistent position on this. And that remains the party’s position” [32].
Albanese about BDS: “When a campaign’s sole purpose is to seek attention, sometimes the smartest thing to do is not to give it the attention it’s asking for. Whenever asked about BDS I have been totally consistent in my opposition to it. My opposition to BDS is something I’ve been passionate about, and I have advocated against BDS for a very long time – long before I became leader of the Labor Party. I led the campaign to make sure that when Marrickville Council, my local council in Sydney’s inner west, adopted support for the BDS in 2010, it was overturned. I worked very closely with Jewish community leaders to make sure that decision was reversed.” Albanese also expressed Labor’s “proud support” of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA): “We are acutely aware of the scourge of antisemitism, and Labor is committed to calling out and taking action against it and all other forms of racism wherever they appear” [33].
If anti-Apartheid Sanctions were applied as strongly today against Apartheid Israel as they were against Apartheid South Africa, then the Australian Labor Government would be subject to international sanctions. Indeed any politicians who support Apartheid Israel and hence the vile crime of Apartheid are unfit for public life in one-person-one-vote vote democracies like Australia.
(7). The Australian Labor Government like its racist predecessors still refuses to recognize the State of Palestine in gross violation of Labor Party Policy – but successive Labor and Coalition Governments have recognized the genocidally racist and Nazi-style State of Israel since 1948.
In 2018 and 2021, the Australian Labor Party’s national conference backed a resolution that “supports the recognition and right of Israel and Palestine to exist as two states within secure and recognised borders” and “calls on the next Labor government to recognise Palestine as a state” [34].
However, post-election FM Penny Wong refused to say whether the Labor Government would implement this Labor Party Policy (November 2022): “The resolution that the Labor party has arrived at is an expression from the national conference about the will of the national conference but a recognition that this is a matter for government. Just as there are communities who feel deeply supportive – as the Labor party has been – of the establishment of the state of Israel and the right of Israel to live in security behind internationally recognised borders, there are also people who have a very strong view about the lack of progress towards a two-state solution and the consequences of that for the Palestinian people” [34].
Pre-election Federal Opposition leader Anthony Albanese was likewise ambiguous: “[Any decision taken] contributes to a peaceful resolution of the conflict and to progress towards a two-state solution… was no sudden change to our platform last year… Labor’s national platform makes clear the desire of the conference to recognise Palestine as a state while acknowledging this will ultimately be a matter for a future Labor government. And Labor governments have always understood that any just and lasting resolution to the Middle East conflict cannot be at the expense of either Palestinians or Israelis. The only way that a two-state solution can be achieved is through a negotiated outcome between the two parties” [33, 34].
Labor has recognized the genocidally racist settler-colonial state of Israel since racist Labor politician Dr H.V. Evatt was president of the UNGA in 1948-1949, but no such statehood has been accorded by racist and anti-Arab anti-Semitic White Australia to the Indigenous Palestinians who had suffered the expulsion of half their population in 1948 together with racist Zionist seizure of nearly 80% of Palestine.
(8). The Australian Labor Government like its racist Coalition and Labor predecessors fervently supports the genocidally racist and serial war criminal Zionist Occupiers to the exclusion of the sorely oppressed and state-less Indigenous Palestinians – but disingenuously claims “balance” in supporting a “2-state solution” negotiated between US, UK- and EU-backed and massively conventionally and nuclear-armed Apartheid Israel and utterly impoverished and defenceless Palestinians
Successive Australian Governments, including the present Labor Government, fervently supported a US-, UK- and EU-backed and massively conventionally- and 100 war-head nuclear-armed Apartheid Israel that has violently occupied all of Palestine for 55 years and has ethnically cleansed 90% of Palestine. Apartheid Israel has a huge, high-technology army, navy and air force, that are regularly used to kill and maim Occupied Palestinians. This century Apartheid Israel has violently killed an average of about 500 Occupied Palestinians each year with about 4,000 also dying annually from imposed deprivation. Since 2000 about 10,000 Occupied Palestinians have been violently killed and about 80,000 passively murdered by imposed deprivation in the West Bank or in the blockade and bombed Gaza Concentration Camp. In contrast 4,000 Zionazis have been killed since 1920 [35]. Indeed in the last 20 years about 3,000 Israelis have been killed in Israel, 1,600 by fellow Israelis and 1,400 by Palestinians. Occupied Palestinian homemade rockets have killed 40 Israelis in the last 20 years [36]. The GDP per capita is a deadly $3,400 for utterly impoverished Occupied Palestinians and $46,400 for Apartheid Israel [35].
A Zionist-subverted West ignores the present reality that Apartheid Israel rules all of a 90% ethnically cleansed Palestine (plus ethnically cleansed parts of Syria and Lebanon) and of its 14.4 million Subjects 6.8 million (47.0%) are Jewish Israelis, 0.4 million (2.8%) are non-Jews and non-Arabs, 2.0 million (13.9%) are Palestinian Israelis, and 5.2 million (36.1%) are Occupied Palestinians with zero human rights. A further 8 million Exiled Palestinians are excluded from the land continuously inhabited by their forebears for millennia. Despite a century of a Palestinian Genocide involving killing, deprivation and repeated mass expulsions (800,000 expelled in the 1948 Nakba and 400,000 Arabs expelled in the 1967 Naksa; 2.2 million Indigenous Palestinians killed by violence, 0.1 million, or imposed deprivation, 2.1 million), Indigenous Palestinians still represent 50% of the Subjects of Apartheid Israel in Palestine, but over 72% of the Indigenous Palestinian Subjects of Apartheid Israel are excluded from voting for the government ruling them i.e. they are subject to egregious Apartheid. Significantly, Dr Hendrik Verwoerd, the neo-Nazi pro-Apartheid Israel architect of Apartheid in South Africa stated: “Israel is an apartheid state” [27].
The racist Australian Labor Government, like the predecessor Coalition Government, ignores these immense power and economic disparities, and Labor, like the Coalition, fervently supports the genocidally racist and serial war criminal Zionist Occupiers to the exclusion of the sorely oppressed and state-less Indigenous Palestinians, but dishonestly claims “balance” in supporting a “2-state solution” negotiated between US, UK- and EU-backed and massively conventionally and nuclear-armed Apartheid Israel and utterly impoverished, defenceless Occupied Palestinians living under violent military occupation.
The “2-state solution” is now impossible due to the Zionist ethnic cleansing of 90% of Palestine. Indeed the new fascist and far-Right Israeli Government , like its predecessors, clearly has no intention of supporting a “2 state solution”. Tom Pickering, a former US Ambassador to the UN and Apartheid Israel, stated that the most the Israelis would concede of Palestine for a State of Palestine would be 4.4% of Palestine, and predicted the eventual complete ethnic cleansing of Gaza and the West Bank [37]. Indeed most Occupied Palestinians today want a secular democratic state in all of Palestine, and indeed that has been the sensible and humane position of numerous anti-racist Jews, anti-racist non-Jews and Palestine’s neighbours for 90 years [38]. The first step that should be adopted immediately, today, is restoration of full human rights to all the Indigenous Palestinians, but the racist Zionists and their racist US, UK, Canada and Australia supporters won’t hear of this.
Unfortunately, as underscored by the racist fascist extremists now running Apartheid Israel, the racist Zionists cannot bear the thought of living side by side with Indigenous Palestinians. Zionism is genocidal racism and Nazism without gas chambers but with 100 nuclear warheads. Like the genocidally racist White Australians for 2 centuries, the genocidally racist Zionists want the land of Palestine but not the Indigenous people, the 15 million Indigenous Palestinians. Indeed Zionism and Apartheid Israel can be validly compared with Nazism and Nazi Germany in over 50 ways [39].
(9). The racist Australian Labor Government and the previous Coalition Government declare Hamas to be a “terrorist organization” despite Hamas having huge Palestinian electoral support even under Israeli guns – to the US and Australia the only acceptable Palestinian representatives are those forced to collaborate with the Zionazi Occupiers.
Hamas won an overwhelming victory in the 2006 Occupied Palestinian elections held under Israeli guns [40]. The US and Apartheid Israel subsequently declared Hamas to be “terrorists” and the elected Hamas MPs were thence variously imprisoned, killed or exiled. In 2021 the racist Australian Coalition declared Hamas in its entirety to be a “terrorist organization” and applied the same false designation to Hezbollah (the Lebanese group with substantial electoral support and which defends Lebanon from Apartheid Israeli invasion). The anti-Arab anti-Semitic and Zionist-subverted Australian Labor Government agrees with this racist and anti-democratic position that makes Palestinians substantially leaderless. It also threatens the human rights of decent anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish Australians who correctly see that both Hamas and Hezbollah have very substantial popular electoral support in their respective jurisdictions.
As far as the racist and anti-democratic Australian Labor Government and the previous Coalition Government are concerned, the only acceptable Palestinian “peace negotiators” for a West-approved but realistically now impossible “2 state solution” are those forced to collaborate with the Zionazi Occupiers.
(10). Under the Australian Labor Government Australia remains a craven ally of the US, and second only to the US as a supporter of Apartheid Israel and hence the vile crime of Apartheid.
Since the fall of Singapore in February 1942, White Australia has been fervently allied with America. Since the UK- and US-complicit Coup that removed the democratically elected and reformist Whitlam Labor Government on 11 November 1975 [41, 42], the sine qua non of Australian politics accepted by both the Coalition and Labor has been a craven and morally blind “all the way with the USA” regardless of the frequent and deadly US atrocities. The serial invader, serial war criminal and genocidally racist US has invaded 72 countries (52 since WW2 [43-45]), has indulged in 469 invasions of other countries since 1778 [46, 47], has committed 251 invasions since 1991 [46, 47], has over 800 military bases in over 70 countries (China has only 1)[48], and subverts all countries [45].
As a UK or US lackey Australia has invaded 85 countries as compared to China only 2 (Tibet in the 13th century and Xinjiang in the 18th century [44, 49] ). Indeed in the last 80 years as a UK and US lackey Australia has violated all 81 Indo-Pacific countries, variously through military presence, complicity in covert regime change (Indonesia 1960-1965, Laos 1960, Cambodia 1970, Chile 1973, Fiji 1987 and 2000, and Australia 1975 and 2010), and as a leading climate criminal country [50, 51].
The US became increasingly beholden to neo-Nazi Apartheid Israel since Israeli acquisition of nuclear weapons by the mid-1960s. US lackey Australia followed suit, and in addition to complicity in UK and US war crimes [15, 52] and nuclear terrorism, has become complicit in Israeli war crimes and nuclear terrorism through close diplomatic, military and military research connections [53-57]. Neo-Nazi, nuclear terrorist Apartheid Israel now has 100 nuclear warheads plus delivery systems [58, 59] but Australia under Labor will continue its complicity in UK, US, French and Apartheid Israeli nuclear terrorism while applying sanctions against North Korea for having some nuclear weapons and against Iran, which according to the mendacious and nuclear terrorist UK, US, France and Apartheid Israel wants to have them (notwithstanding Iranian denials).
Apartheid Israel and its traitorous Zionist agents have been long involved violating Australians and Australian institutions variously through corruption, blackmail, insider trading, subversion, defamation, censorship, intimidation, character assassination, perversion, large-scale forging of Australian passports for terrorism purposes, and variously wounding, mangling, bombing, shooting , tasering, killing, kidnapping, falsely imprisoning, threatening, defaming, censoring, and otherwise damaging Australians [60-66]. Popular Labor PM Kevin Rudd protested Israeli forging of Australian passports and kidnapping of Australians, but within months was deposed in a US-approved, mining corporation-backed and pro-Zionist-led coup [67-71].
In addition to observing the sine qua non of “all the way with the USA”, politicians in democracy Australia (and in other Western democracies) are very sensitive to criticism, and in pursuit of their primary goal (election to office) try as far as possible to please everyone and not offend anyone. Ditto the cowardly, taxpayer-funded and Zionist-subverted ABC (Australia’s equivalent of the mendacious UK BBC) and most Mainstream journalist, editor, politician, academic and commentariat presstitutes. The ferociously mendacious, traitorous and genocidally racist Zionists have weaponized this political cowardice by falsely defaming any critics of Zionism or Apartheid Israel as “anti-Semites” and in particular falsely defaming anti-racist Jews as “self-hating Jews” and “self-loathing Jews” as well as (and absurdly so) as “anti-Semites”. Former NSW Premier and Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr is a rare example of an Australian politician courageously exposing the Zionist Lobby [72-75]. Another rare and notable example is former Labor MP and outstanding human rights lawyer Melissa Parke (forced to withdraw her candidature in the 2019 Federal elections over her support for Palestinian human rights, and recipient of the Jerusalem Al Quds Peace Prize in 2022) [76, 77]. In contrast, numerous anti-racist Jewish Australians have been courageously vocal about the appalling crimes of Zionism and Apartheid Israel, notable examples being Sir Isaac Isaacs (first Australian-born Governor General), Professor Peter Singer (world famous philosopher and ethicist), and Antony Loewenstein ( author of “My Israel Question” and recipient of the 2019 Jerusalem (Al Quds) Peace Prize) [78-80].
Silence is complicity, and by cowardly ignoring this virulent and false defamation of anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish Australians, Labor as well as Coalition politicians are passively supporting egregious anti-Jewish anti-Semitism and anti-Arab anti-Semitism. Labor is “Progressive Except Palestine” (PEP) and thoroughly alienates anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish Australians and decent anti-racists world-wide by fervently supporting Australia being second only to the US as a supporter of Apartheid Israel [81].
(11). The Australian Labor Government violates the spirit of Section 44 of the Australian Constitution in fervently supporting fanatical Zionist agents of a dangerous foreign country (Apartheid Israel) subverting and threatening Australians and Australian institutions to the exclusion of decent anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish Australians with a sole allegiance to Australia.
Section 44 of the Australian Constitution unequivocally states that: “44. Any person who – (i.) Is under ANY [my emphasis] acknowledgement of allegiance, obedience, or adherence to a foreign power, or is a subject or a citizen or entitled to the rights or privileges of a subject or citizen of a foreign power: or…shall be incapable of being chosen or of sitting as a senator or a member of the House of Representatives” [82]. Yet the Australian Labor Government follows the obscene policies of its Coalition and Labor predecessors in blatantly violating the spirit of Section 44 of the Constitution in fervently supporting Apartheid Israel and fanatical Zionist agents of Apartheid Israel involved in subverting and threatening Australians and Australian institutions, and to the rigorous exclusion of decent anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish Australians with a sole allegiance to Australia.
As described in section 10 above, Apartheid Israel and its traitorous Zionist agents have variously been involved in subverting, perverting and harming Australians and Australian institutions to the serious detriment of Australia. The Australian Labor Government will continue to slavishly go along with Zionist-subverted America, and to fervently support Apartheid Israel and its traitorous Zionist agents, notwithstanding the immense harm to Australia and its international standing. In this position – cowardly at best and genocidally racist at worst – the Australian Labor Government supports genocidally racist Apartheid Israel and its traitorous racist Zionist agents inimical to Australia’s reputation and interests and to the deliberate and continuing exclusion of decent anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish Australians (many quite eminent) with a sole allegiance to Australia.
In similar vein the tail-wagging, US lackey Australian Labor Government follows His Master’s Voice in de facto hostility to Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims, anti-racist Jewish and non-Jewish Australians, cruelly imprisoned and threatened world hero and journalist Julian Assange, social humanists, socialists, and China (Australia’s biggest trading partner and the most un-warlike Big Power in the last thousand years), and couples this with support for nuclear terrorist, racist Zionist-run, genocidally racist, serial war criminal, grossly human rights-abusing, Australia-violating, democracy-by-genocide Apartheid Israel.
(12). A Zionist-subverted and cravenly US lackey Australian Labor Government exhibits dishonest and racist double standards in rightly condemning the war criminal Russian invasion and occupation of Ukraine and US-encircled Chinese occupation of uninhabited coral atolls in the South China Sea while variously supporting war criminal US and US-backed Israeli invasions and continuing occupations over the last 75 years.
The Australian Labor Government has rightly condemned the war criminal Russian invasion of Ukraine but it shows utter racism, hypocrisy and double standards in not making any criticism of the genocidally racist Zionists and Apartheid Israel for the UK- and US-backed invasions, continuing occupations, repeated mass population expulsions, continuing gross violations, and the ongoing Palestinian Genocide over the last 75 years [35]. Similarly the cravenly US lackey Australian Labor Government ignores the appalling reality that the serial invader, serial war criminal and genocidally racist US has invaded 72 countries (52 since WW2 [43-45]), has indulged in 469 invasions of other countries since 1778 [46, 47], has committed 251 invasions since 1991 [46, 47], has over 800 military bases in over 70 countries (China has only 1)[48], and subverts all countries including Australia [45].
Just one example out of scores that could be given – the Australian Labor Government condemns the Chinese occupation of disputed uninhabited coral atolls in the South China Sea but through former ANZUS and now AUKUS and Quad arrangements is party to the US ethnic cleansing and occupation of the Chagos Archipelago for the Diego Garcia nuclear-armed military base in violation of International Law that condemns the ethnic cleansing and decrees that this land should be returned to its original Chagossian inhabitants and to the tiny island nation of Mauritius. The racist Australian Labor Government continues the tradition of its racist White predecessors in fervently supporting the horrendous crimes of their Great White Hope America [50, 51].
(13). The Australian Labor Government ignores and is thus complicit in massive non-institutional child abuse including huge child sexual abuse in Australia, the US and Apartheid Israel, and the horrendous Zionist abuse of 15 million Palestinians who are mostly children and women.
The fervently pro-US and pro-Zionist Gillard Labor Government quite rightly committed A$500 million for a Royal Commission investigating institutional child sexual abuse in Australia. However this expensive investigation only dealt with institutional crimes that totalled of the order of 100,000 cases in a country with a present population of 26 million. However expert sociologists have done surveys that indicate horrendous sexual abuse of millions of children in Australia, the US and Apartheid Israel. In contrast to its declared inability to quantitate the extent of child abuse in Indigenous communities, the “Little Children are Sacred” Report (pp234-236) [83] refers to studies in America indicating that 25% of females and 10% of males experience childhood sexual abuse in the US [84], and in Australia indicating that 34% of females and 16% of males today experienced child sexual abuse [85-89]. The Australian data indicated that about 4.4 million adult Australians had suffered child sexual abuse [85-90]. The Australian Institute of Criminology determined that in Australia 1 in 3 females and 1 in 6 males will be sexually abused as children [88, 89]. The US figures indicated that about 35 million adult Americans suffered child sexual abuse [84]. Surveys in Apartheid Israel found that 50% of children surveyed reported child abuse and 17% reported child sexual abuse [86,87, 90-92]. Of course Israeli child abuse extends massively to about 2.5 million children in the utterly impoverished Occupied Palestinian Territories who are excluded from all human rights under 55 years of brutal Israeli military rule and are traumatized by Israeli bombing of the blockaded Gaza Concentration Camp [93]. In relation to the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Apartheid Israel is among world leaders in terms of numbers of violently killed children per million of population [94]. About 50% of Occupied Palestinians are children and about 75% are women and children.
Decent people reject racism, apartheid and genocide. Zionism is genocidal racism in its awful theory and ghastly practice of subjugation, dispossession, and ethnic cleansing of another people. This evil is most starkly exposed when one considers the horrendous child abuse variously inflicted by racist Zionists, by Apartheid Israel, and by pro-Zionist US Alliance allies of the Apartheid rogue state on exiled Palestinian children, Occupied Palestinian children, Palestinian Israeli children, Jewish Israeli children, Jewish children in general, Muslim children, Third World children and indeed potentially all children of the world [15]. The Australian Labor Government not only ignores US and Apartheid Israeli child abuse but also ignores horrendous child abuse impacting millions of fellow Australians – child abuse can reduce life expectancy by 10-20 years [95, 96]. The appalling abuse of 40,000 Australian children by Catholic Church personnel represents the 1% tip of the iceberg of horrendous child sexual abuse which is endemic in Australia [85-90]. Thus psychiatrist Dr Carolyn Quadrio (University of New South Wales School of Psychiatry) advised the Australian Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse that “They [child abuse victims] often have unhealthy lifestyles so they’re prone to substance abuse and poverty and unemployment … and all of that adds up to something like 10 to 20 years less life for a child who’s been traumatised”, and estimated that 25- 30% of Australian girls and about 5- 15% of Australian boys suffered some form of sexual abuse, with 30% of girls and 20 % of boys in institutions being abused [95, 96].
“Failure to report” is lying by omission that is far , far worse than repugnant lying by commission because the latter at least permits public refutation and public discussion. However “failure to report” can be a criminal offence. Indeed “failure to report” child sexual abuse can be punished by 3 years in prison in Australia. I recently sent a detailed report on “failure to report” in look the other way Australia to all Australian senators and members of the House of Representatives. My submission detailed 31 extremely serious, Elephant in the Room matters that are overwhelmingly ignored in US lackey and Zionist-subverted Murdochracy and Corporatocracy Australia. Item #20 was concerned with “failure to report” the horrendous extent of child sexual abuse in Australia as summarized above. The Silence has been Deafening, and for that alone decent Australians simply cannot vote 1 Labor or vote 1 Coalition (that is rather worse than Labor).
(14). Silence is complicity and the Australian Labor Government while fully apprised by scientists and economists ignores Australian involvement in immense crimes against Humanity ranging from complicity in US subversion, war crimes, invasions, occupations, ethnic cleansing, covert regime change, nuclear terrorism and deadly global South poverty to Australia being among world leaders in 16 areas of terracidal climate criminality.
Most Australians welcomed the defeat by Labor of the mendacious, corrupt, incompetent, climate criminal, and racist Australian Coalition Government in the 21 May 2022 elections. However the Australian Albanese Labor Government, while considerably better than its predecessor, is egregiously neoliberal, cowardly, pro-Zionist, US-beholden and pro-fossil fuels, and has so far failed on nuclear weapons, poverty and climate change that are the 3 key existential threats to Humanity. In short, the new Australian Labor Government has failed on nuclear weapons (it failed to support and ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) as promised pre-election, and has linked Australia tightly to US and UK nuclear terrorism), failed on poverty ( its overseas aid is pathetically small and while it is prepared to break promises over Palestine, the TPNW etc it refused to break a pre-election promise to give A$250 billion to the rich while half the population are experiencing severe economic circumstances), and failed on climate change (it supports the opening of over 100 new coal and gas operations, and is opposed to the global South ‘s plea for a “loss and damage fund” at COP27 ) [98-100].
(15). The Australian Labor Government betrays and endangers Australians through massive lying by omission, noting that lying by omission is far, far worse than repugnant lying by commission because the latter at least permits public refutation and public debate.
The newly-elected Australian Labor Government (now in power for 6 months) has already betrayed and endangered Australians through lying by commission and massive lying by omission. In science there is zero tolerance for lying, noting that lying by omission is far, far worse than repugnant lying by commission because the latter at least permits public refutation and public discussion (subject to Mainstream media permission in Murdochracy and Corporatocracy Australia). Unfortunately lying by omission or commission is now de rigeur in the West. Thus back in the 1960s Jack Profumo (a leading UK Tory politician, Minister and potential UK PM ) honourably resigned because he had lied to the House of Commons over his dalliance with Christine Keeler, whereas the Washington Post determined that US President Donald Trump told 30,000 lies during his Administration [101, 102].
Conclusion.
The principal merit of the Australian Labor Government is that it is better than its utterly appalling, variously corrupt and mendacious predecessor, the Liberal Party-National Party Coalition Government. Indeed their policy positions born of political cowardice and innately corrupt electoral considerations are so similar that they have been collectively referred to as the Lib-Labs. Australian has an excellent compulsory and preferential electoral voting system (if a candidate fails to get 50% of the vote then the second preferences of the voters are taken into account). The New Australian Labor Government’s failure on matters #1-#15 as set out above means that decent, anti-racist and humanitarian Australians cannot vote 1 for either the cowardly and unprincipled Labor or the utterly appalling Coalition, and will vote 1 Green and put the Coalition last.
