BHOPAL: Without waiting for Lok Sabha poll results to be out, both Congress and BJP have initiated steps to make changes in their respective organisations. The BJP has taken steps to change policies introduced by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan..As regards Congress it called on Monday a meeting of senior party functionaries and candidates for the Lok Sabha elections to discuss a wide range of issues related to the organisation. The meeting was attended by state party in charge Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, state party president Jitu Patwari, former CM Kamal Nath, former LOP Govind Singh and Ajay Singh, former ministers and office bearers.

Though the media was kept away from the closed-door meeting, it was apparent that discussions were centred around the massive exodus of important functionaries, workers and three sitting MLAs between the Congress’ defeat in the assembly elections and the first four phases of the Lok Sabha elections.

After the meeting, former minister Sajjan Singh Verma expressed his concern about inaction against party workers who rebelled, protested, quit and some who were involved in anti-party activities.

After every election, a committee is appointed to hold inquiries into complaints received from candidates and party workers regarding poll campaigning and polling. Verma said that after the assembly polls, the party refrained from taking appropriate action against turncoats and rebels. This inaction further weakened the organisation.

“You cannot do politics if you fear,” Verma said. “Bold decisions should be taken. Strict action needs to be taken. Only then, does discipline and responsibility increase among party men. I have been part of the that committee and with a lot of sorrow I have to say that we kept saying, not now let us wait for the Lok Sabha elections be over. And the result was that many more people quit. I would suggest to the state party chief to take appropriate action even now,” he said.

Former LOP Ajay Singh explained, “It has been the tradition in the Congress that a committee is formed which investigates into the complaints (received from party workers) and then initiates action.” The question arises, is the state Congress still not willing to take punitive action against internal dissenters?

Addressing the media, state PCC chief Jitu Patwari claimed, “Those who harmed the party from within, have left the party and gone to the BJP.”State BJP claims that since the beginning of the year, three sitting Congress MLAs, 22,000 office-bearers of the Congress party and five lakh workers have quit and joined BJP.

Patwari said that based on the information given by the state general secretary in charge Jitendra Singh and he received feedback, those functionaries and workers whose performance is good will be given place in the organization. Disciplinary action will be taken against those with negative reports.

As far as BJP is concerned, the Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has cancelled many decisions taken by Shivraj Singh Chouhan. For Chouhan decided to regularise several colonies irrespective whether they were constructed according to rules are not. Now every colony will be subjected to scrutiny. If they are found ok, then they will be given clearance. There used to be capital Project Administration that looked after the administration of the State capital. Chouhan abolished it present Chief Minister wants to revive it.

There was a great scam in giving recognition to nursing colleges. Hundreds of such Nursing colleges were given recognition by the earlier regime. Now almost all of them have been derecognised. Now every such colleges that were cleared will be probed by the CBI. That means that every such colleges which were cleared by Chouhan govt. may also face derecognition. Many such policy decision of Chouhan government may undergo drastic change.
