Radical Desi has declared Prof. GN Saibaba “Newsmaker of the Year 2024”. A former Delhi University lecturer. Saibaba was thrown behind bars for questioning the power and standing up for the poor and marginalized. A wheelchair-bound scholar, Saibaba was suffering from multiple ailments when arrested under trumped-up charges. He was incarcerated for almost a decade until the High Court acquitted him in March 2024. He died in October due to deteriorating medical conditions caused by inhuman treatment in jail. He will always be remembered as India’s prisoner of conscience who did not compromise on his principles and never gave up his fight for the truth to gain freedom.
