Solidarity With Imran Khan

Imran Khan Protest 3

The International Movement for a Just World (JUST) expresses total solidarity with detained former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan who has been imprisoned since August 2023 by a military regime with a civilian facade in Islamabad.

JUST endorses the demands made by the Movement for Justice that has grown around Imran. It is one of the most popular grassroots movements that has emerged in Pakistan’s history. In a nutshell, its demands are for the :-

  1. Immediate release of Imran Khan and the abrogation of the politically motivated cases against him.
  2. Immediate release from prison of the tens of thousands of activists associated with the Movement for Justice.
  3. Recognition of the results of the Election held in February 2024 which saw Imran’s Movement for Justice win most seats in Parliament.
  4. Immediate institution of a process that allows Imran’s Movement to take its rightful place as the governing body in Pakistan
  5. The end of interference from the military in the political life of the nation.

In addition to the above demands, foreign countries should also stop interfering in Pakistan’s affairs and respect the legitimate aspirations of the Pakistani people.

Dr Chandra Muzaffar, President, International  Movement for a Just World (JUST). Malaysia.
