Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israeli occupation forces stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, once again on Friday morning. They forced patients and the wounded to leave, while also arresting several displaced people and medical staff.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital states about the ongoing Israeli offensive on the hospital:
▪️ The situation inside and around the hospital is catastrophic. There are a large number of martyrs and wounded, including four martyrs from the hospital’s medical staff, and there are no surgeons left.
▪️ The only medical team that was performing surgeries was the Indonesian medical delegation, and they were the first to be forced to leave for the checkpoint.
▪️ Medical supplies are nearly exhausted, and there are hundreds of victims.
▪️ Initially, there were a series of airstrikes on the northern and western sides of the hospital, accompanied by heavy and direct fire, which, fortunately, did not result in any injuries inside the hospital.
▪️Then, we were surprised when two people entered the hospital carrying a loudspeaker and ordered me to evacuate all patients, displaced people, and medical staff, forcing everyone to the hospital courtyard and pushing them out to the checkpoint. After that, they returned and asked for one companion for each patient and displaced person to assist with the evacuation.
▪️ In the morning, we were shocked to see hundreds of wounded people and corpses in the streets surrounding the hospital.
▪️ The oxygen generators were targeted at night, and now there are only two inexperienced surgeons available to perform surgeries on the patients. They had to start the operations despite their lack of experience, as there were 20 wounded people needing urgent care.
▪️ Human rights organizations and international institutions must take action to save what can be saved from the repeated war crimes that have become a daily routine for the occupation.
What Happened?
Local sources reported that in the early hours of the morning, the Israeli forces surrounded the hospital with tanks from all sides. They used two civilian prisoners as human shields by sending them to order the patients and those in the hospital to leave.
The Israeli occupation forces have arrested a number of young men and instructed others to head to west Gaza City via Salah al-Din Street.
Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan, confirmed that the Israeli forces arrested a number of displaced people and medics while forcing other medics to leave the hospital and head towards the Indonesian Hospital.
The Indonesian delegation was also forced to leave the hospital and head towards the Indonesian Hospital, according to journalists.
Abu Safiya added that there is a large number of martyrs and critically injured people due to the Israeli attacks on the hospital and its vicinity, with the bodies of the martyrs still lying in the hospital courtyards.
Repeated Attacks
Just before the Israeli raid, it was quite violent and bloody in the vicinity of the Kamal Adwan Hospital and inside the health facility where the Israeli military was deploying quadcopters and attack drones to drop grenades on people, patients, the injured, and civilians inside the hospital, killing and injuring many.
A drone strike on Thursday killed a 16-year-old boy in a wheelchair and wounded at least 12 other people, including medical staff.
Shortly before the Israeli raid, Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan, described the horrific conditions inside the hospital and the gruesome injuries they were receiving inside the hospital that were caused by the attacks of the Israeli quadcopters and drones in the past hours.
The hospital was running out of any meaningful medical care, given the hardship and the fact the past 60-plus days have been very strict in terms of what can enter the northern part of Gaza as there is a complete siege, military siege, on the area with no humanitarian aid – medical supplies, water, or life-sustaining resources – available to people there because of the ongoing deliberate prevention by the Israeli military.
