Damascus (Quds News Network)- Israel has quietly established a military zone inside Syrian territory, Israeli Army Radio reported. No final date has been set for its withdrawal.
The report said Israel’s presence in Syria is no longer temporary. The Israeli army is constructing nine military sites in the zone. Three brigades are now stationed there, up from just one and a half battalions before October 7, 2023. The military plans to remain in Syria throughout 2025.
The revelation comes days after Israeli warplanes bombed military sites in the Kiswah area near Damascus. The strikes triggered massive explosions and fires.
Israel has repeatedly carried out airstrikes in Syria, claiming to target armed groups. The latest attacks come amid rising tensions along the Israeli-Syrian border. Israeli forces continue expanding their incursions into Quneitra province.
Since December 8, 2024, Israel has intensified its military operations in Syria. It has occupied the buffer zone, seized control of Jabal Al-Sheikh’s summit, and expanded its operations in Quneitra and rural Damascus.
