Journalist Killed in Muzaffarpur, Bihar

crime scene murder

The Delhi Union of Journalists expresses its shock at the murder of a journalist in Muzaffarpur Bihar. Shivshankar Jha, 40, who represented several Hindi media outlets, was found brutally stabbed near his home in Maripur village on the night of June 25, 2024. He died of knife wounds in hospital.

Jha is the second journalist to be killed in India this year. TV journalist Ashutosh Shrivastava had been shot in Uttar Pradesh on May 13.

The DUJ demands a fair inquiry into the death of Jha and speedy punishment for the murderers. The police have said that liquor mafia could be involved in the killing. This matter needs to be properly investigated. We also appeal to the Government of Bihar to provide relief and immediate compensation to Jha’s bereaved family.
