Gaza Hospitals Face Imminent Shutdown Amid Israeli Strikes and Fuel Shortages

Gaza (Quds News Network)- The Ministry of Health has issued a dire warning that hospitals across the besieged Gaza Strip will cease operations within 48 hours due to severe fuel shortages. This announcement comes as Israeli airstrikes continue to target critical infrastructure, exacerbating an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis.

Hospital Bombed, Injuries Reported

Earlier today, an Israeli drone bombed Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, injuring Dr. Saeed Joudeh and several patients. Hospital director Dr. Hussam Abu Safiyya confirmed the attack, stating it targeted the hospital’s entrance without prior warning.

Palestinian doctor Hussam Abu Safiya, the Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, the only functioning hospital in Northern Gaza, describes the catastrophic conditions threatening the lives of patients and the injured due to the ongoing attacks targeting the hospital amidst a severe Israeli siege on northern Gaza for more than 47 days. He confirms that the oxygen supply was cut off and the hospital’s only generator was destroyed following an Israeli occupation attack on the hospital last night, causing the heart of a newborn to stop.

“This marks the second consecutive day of deliberate strikes on our hospital and follows a broader pattern of targeting Gaza’s healthcare system,” Dr. Abu Safiyya said.

He added that two doctors working at the hospital have faced devastating personal losses. One lost 17 family members, mostly women and children, in a nearby airstrike, while another lost 19 relatives while attending to emergency cases.

Another attack targeted the hospital just a few hours later, injuring Dr. Nihad Guneim.

WHO: “Deeply Concerned” About Medical Staff Safety

The World Health Organization (WHO) expressed deep concern for the safety of patients and medical staff at Kamal Adwan Hospital, reporting that its oxygen system is no longer operational due to the drone attack.

“The hostilities around Kamal Adwan Hospital must stop immediately, and humanitarian missions must be granted safe access,” the WHO stated.

The Ministry of Health warned that all hospitals in Gaza will shut down or drastically reduce services within two days if fuel supplies are not replenished. Israeli authorities have blocked fuel entry into Gaza, leaving hospitals unable to power essential equipment.

Medical sources describe dire conditions, with shortages of supplies and the absence of surgical teams compounding the crisis. Gaza’s health system, already overburdened by years of blockade, is now on the verge of total collapse.

The ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, has resulted in over 148,000 casualties, including tens of thousands of children and women. More than 10,000 people remain missing amid the rubble of demolished neighborhoods. Gaza’s humanitarian conditions continue to deteriorate, with widespread starvation and destruction affecting millions under blockade.
