Gaza (Quds News Network)- Israel has now targeted 68 food distribution centers and soup kitchens in Gaza since the start of its genocide, according to the Government Media Office.
The latest attack took place in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza. Israeli forces bombed a food aid warehouse, killing five hungry civilians and injuring many others. Victims had gathered in desperation to collect food during a deepening Israeli-made famine.
The Government Media Office say the ongoing assault is part of a deliberate strategy to starve civilians in Gaza. Of the 68 destroyed facilities, 39 were food aid distribution centers and 29 were soup kitchens that provided daily meals.
“This is not random,” the media office said in its Saturday press release. “It is part of a systematic war on humanitarian infrastructure aimed at collective punishment.”
The statement condemned the brutal and clear violation of international law. It pointed to the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit attacks on civilians and aid facilities under any circumstances.
Hundreds of Palestinians have died while trying to access food in recent weeks. Many were killed or injured in Israeli strikes as they waited in line for aid.
“The occupation is using food as a weapon of war,” the media office warned. “This is a war crime and a crime against humanity.”
The statement urged the United Nations, Security Council, and global humanitarian organizations to act immediately. It called for the protection of aid centers, the reopening of border crossings, and the safe entry of humanitarian supplies into Gaza.
It also appealed to rights groups and the international media to document what it described as a slow-motion genocide.
“The world’s silence,” it said, “makes it complicit in this starvation campaign against a besieged and defenseless population.”
