The discovery of a poster with picture of mass murderer Netanyuhu and ‘Wanted’ as caption has caused consternation in Delhi police and EAM.Hot search is on for the person who had pasted it on a wall. The latest news is that someone from the Belgian embassy had put it up.Some action is being taken following diplomatic protocol.
It needs mention that The International Court of Criminal Justice has already declared that Netanyuhu is a war criminal and is liable to arrest and detention wherever he is found. From this angle it is nothing exceptional. But in view of the major change of outlook and policy of Government of India towards Israel under BJP rule,so unlike those under Nehru,Indira Gandhi and even during Janata Party rule, this act amounts to a serious crime at the level of treason and threat to the state. But this is a grey area which allows government to criminalise even such a conscientious act.
This reveals the outrageous state of affairs as regards as the sick and sickening daily toll of innocent, helpless and unarmed civilians. It is a slap on the face of any presence of justice in international relations. A people who had been disarmed and promised by big powers flaunting democratic standards a peaceful allocation of a guaranteed national state, which has turned into a chimera.Hamas had taken action in October 2023 in response to brutal murders and displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank by Israeli hard-liners in defiance of the mandate by major Western powers, who watch without batting an eye. Every time the gruesome massacres of children, women, the elderly, doctors, teachers and journalists are reported in press with flaring headlines.Yet nothing happens to put a stop to it.
There have been tremendous expressions of public anger and outrage in the West.Self-immolations by Airmen in American cities shouting ‘Free Palestine’ before their last gasps.Three million people had converged on London in protest demonstrations. But their governments have been dithering and wobbling about taking appropriate action in this instance of drastic and glaring violation of human rights.Whenever the matter was taken up by Security Council of UNO Western powers had vetoed it.Thus the matter lingers as the ghastly genocide moves relentlessly on.
Is there some force or organisation in the world that can take up the matter and put an end to it? There is one and it is the newborn international front, the BRICS.At this sceptics might object that it is concerned with trade alone and has no power to intervene. But BRICS countries have broken away from WTO on the ground that international trade rules under WTO had been bleak and mostrously unjust. There is an affirmation of the principles of justice and equality in the newly forged relations. These nations can certainly unite on extending these principles to include equality, friendship and humanity. And since Israel trample such principles under its boots it can and should be outlawed, excommunicated and punished through economic and commercial steps.
