Global Inaction on Gaza Genocide & Climate Genocide As Catastrophic Plus 2C Looms

The World is inactive against the Gaza Genocide and the looming total ethnic cleansing of Gaza by US-backed Apartheid Israel. However the World is also shockingly inactive as it faces a catastrophic plus 2C of warming within 15 years and a worsening Climate Genocide that is predicted to kill 10 billion people by 2100. The World must act now by applying rigorous sanctions against Apartheid Israel and all its supporters, notably war criminal and climate criminal America and its allies.

Humanity and the Biosphere are existentially threatened by nuclear weapons and climate change. James Hansen and colleagues have warned that because of a decline in global cooling aerosol emissions a catastrophic global warming of plus 2C is predicted to occur before 2050 with catastrophic consequences for coral, ocean currents and sea level [1]. Continuing inaction means billions of Climate Genocide deaths this century en route to a sustainable population of only 1 billion by 2100.  The World exhibits the same shocking inaction in the face of the Gaza Genocide that is clearly heading towards total ethnic cleansing of Gaza. The civilized World must urgently address this catastrophically deadly moral vacuity before it is too late.

Leading climate scientist  James Hansen and his colleagues have re-examined global warming taking into account the decline in global cooling aerosol emissions from shipping  and have advocated global cooling measures (2023): “Equilibrium global warming for today’s GHG [greenhouse gas] amount is 10°C, which is reduced to 8°C by today’s human-made aerosols. Equilibrium warming is not ‘committed’ warming; rapid phaseout of GHG emissions would prevent most equilibrium warming from occurring. However, decline of aerosol emissions since 2010 should increase the 1970–2010 global warming rate of 0.18°C per decade to a post-2010 rate of at least 0.27°C per decade. Thus, under the present geopolitical approach to GHG emissions, global warming will exceed 1.5°C in the 2020s and 2°C before 2050. Impacts on people and nature will accelerate as global warming increases hydrologic (weather) extremes. The enormity of consequences demands a return to Holocene-level global temperature. Required actions include: (1) a global increasing price on GHG emissions accompanied by development of abundant, affordable, dispatchable clean energy, (2) East-West cooperation in a way that accommodates developing world needs, and (3) intervention with Earth’s radiation imbalance to phase down today’s massive human-made ‘geo-transformation’ of Earth’s climate. Current political crises present an opportunity for reset, especially if young people can grasp their situation.” [1].

The stark warning by James Hansen and his colleagues has been tempered by more optimistic views from other climate scientists and commentators [2-4]. Thus Madeleine Cuff (New Scientist, August 2024): “Humanity’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, which has been totemic in climate policy for the past decade, is now almost certainly out of reach. Limiting warming to 1.6°C has become the best-case scenario for climate action, with the hope of bringing temperatures back to 1.5°C later in the century using technology to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere”  [4]. However current technology for removing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere is very expensive –   it costs about $200 per tonne CO2.  Thus James Hansen et al (2018): “The lowest cost for direct air capture of CO2 based on technology demonstration (Keith et al., 2018) is $113-232/tCO2 and that cost does not include cost of CO2 storage, which has been estimated as $10-20/tCO2” [5]. It can be readily determined that with a damage-related Carbon Price of $200 per tonne CO2 the World has an inescapable $200-250 trillion global Carbon Debt that is increasing by $16 trillion annually [6-9]. One notes that the World’s annual GDP in 2023 was $106 trillion.

However global warming appears to have accelerated in the last few years, surpassing the “ideal” of no more than plus 1.5C of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. This prompted James Hansen and colleagues to issue the following dire  warning (February 2025): “Global temperature leaped more than 0.4°C (0.7°F) during the past two years, the 12-month average peaking in August 2024 at +1.6°C relative to the temperature at the beginning of last century (the 1880-1920 average). This temperature jump was spurred by one of the periodic tropical El Niño warming events, but many Earth scientists were baffled by the magnitude of the global warming, which was twice as large as expected for the weak 2023-2024 El Niño. We find that most of the other half of the warming was caused by a restriction on aerosol emissions by ships, which was imposed in 2020 by the International Maritime Organization to combat the effect of aerosol pollutants on human health. Aerosols are small particles that serve as cloud formation nuclei. Their most important effect is to increase the extent and brightness of clouds, which reflect sunlight and have a cooling effect on Earth… Polar climate change has the greatest long-term effect on humanity, with impacts accelerated by the jump in global temperature. We find that polar ice melt and freshwater injection onto the North Atlantic Ocean exceed prior estimates and, because of accelerated global warming, the melt will increase. As a result, shutdown of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) is likely within the next 20-30 years, unless actions are taken to reduce global warming – in contradiction to conclusions of IPCC. If AMOC is allowed to shut down, it will lock in major problems including sea level rise of several meters – thus, we describe AMOC shutdown as the “point of no return”” [11].

Climate change analyst David Spratt has commented on the rapid recent rise in atmospheric CO2 (April 2025): “So now there is a real contest of analyses between Hansen and his colleagues, and the many scientists who maintain that the aerosol impact on recent warming is relatively minor, and climate sensitivity lower than Hansen’s analysis… The evidence so far in 2025 leans Hansen’s way.  January was 1.75°C, February was 1.59°C and March 1.6°C, an average of 1.65°C for the first quarter of the year. Even though the El Nino was fading by April 2024, the 12-month period of April 2024 – March 2025 was 1.59°C above the pre-industrial level” [12].

Paleoclimatologist Dr Andrew Glikson has warned of political pressure on climate scientists to present a more optimistic view: “A number of prominent climate scientists representing the scientific consensus on climate change, as documented by the IPCC, have tried their best to convey the message in public forums, but were mostly shunned by conservative media. At the same time many climate scientists tend to regard the IPCC-based climate consensus as too optimistic… Little encouragement can be gained from the non-binding promises emerging from climate conferences, which James Hansen described as a “fraud”. While the implications of the global climate emergency have reached the defence establishment, the world continues to spend near to $2.4 trillion each year on the military instead on the protection of life. As the portents for a major mass extinction of species are rising – who will defend life [on] the Earth?” [13].

Thus extrapolation  of the  linear 1970–2010 global warming rate of 0.18°C per decade indicates plus 1.6C being reached by 2035 [13] whereas it had already reached plus 1.6C by early 2025 [12]. Adopting a global warming rate of 0.27°C per decade on the basis of a declining cooling due to declining shipping aerosol emissions [1] predicts exceedance of a catastrophic plus 2C by 2040 i.e. in a mere 15 years’ time.

In  2018 the conservative IPCC issued a dire report that details the numerous bad outcomes of a global +1.5 degree Centigrade (+1.5C) of warming versus the catastrophic outcomes from a +2C e.g. a further 70-90% decline of coral reefs at +1.5C versus more than 99% loss at +2C  [14, 15]. However the situation is even more dire according to Adele Dixon et al (2022): “Thermal refugia underpin climate-smart management of coral reefs, but whether current thermal refugia will remain so under future warming is uncertain… Here, we show that climate change will overwhelm current local-scale refugia, with declines in global thermal refugia from 84% of global coral reef pixels in the present-day climate to 0.2% at 1.5°C, and 0% at 2.0°C of global warming. Local-scale oceanographic features such as upwelling and strong ocean currents only rarely provide future thermal refugia.  We confirm that warming of 1.5°C relative to pre-industrial levels will be catastrophic for coral reefs” [16]. Marlowe Hood in Phys Org has summarized this research  (2022): “The problem is marine heatwaves and the time it takes for living coral to recover from them, a healing period known as “thermal refugia”… Coral reefs that anchor a quarter of marine wildlife and the livelihoods of more than half-a-billion people will most likely be wiped out even if global warming is capped within Paris climate goals… An average increase of 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels would see more than 99 percent of the world’s coral reefs unable to recover from ever more frequent marine heat waves… At two degrees of warming, mortality will be 100 percent… In 2018, the IPCC predicted that 70 to 90 percent of corals would be lost at the 1.5C threshold, and 99 percent if temperatures rose another half-a-degree. The new findings suggest those grim forecasts were in fact unduly optimistic”[17].

Climate Genocide, Gaza Genocide and  conclusions about deadly global inaction.

As summarized above, global warming is increasing  at an ever greater rate. The Paris “ideal” target of 1.5C was exceeded by 2023, global warming is presently at plus 1.6C in 2025,  and at a warming rate of 0.27C per decade [1] a catastrophic plus 2C  will be reached by 2040 i.e. in a mere 15 years’ time. Humanity and the Biosphere are existentially threatened by nuclear weapons and climate change [18, 19]. One of Humanity’s greatest minds, Stephen Hawking (2018): “We see great peril if governments and societies do not take action NOW [my emphasis] to render nuclear weapons obsolete and to prevent further climate change” [19]. However despite the political rhetoric there is no effective action NOW.

Thus of 35 climate change-related parameters measured since about 1980 about 28 are going in the wrong direction and mostly in a clear quasi-linear fashion (atmospheric CO2, CH4, and N2O, surface temperature, global energy imbalance, ocean heat content, ocean acidity, sea level, Arctic sea ice, Greenland ice, Antarctic ice, glacier mass, US area burned, global tree cover loss from fires, floods, hot days, human population, ruminant population, meat production, global GDP, global tree cover loss, oil, coal and gas use, heat deaths, CO2-equivalent emissions, per capita CO2-equivalent emissions, and fuel subsidies)  while 6 operational parameters were in the right direction (solar wind uptake, fertility rate, Amazon deforestation, institutional divestment from fossil fuels, carbon pricing coverage  and climate emergency declarations) and carbon pricing remained unchanged at about 10 times less than what it should be [20, 21].

Similarly, according to both James Hansen and the conservative International Monetary Fund (IMF) a key and very effective way of immediately addressing the Climate Crisis would be to apply  a damage-related Carbon Price to all human operations. However, as pointed out by the IMF,  the world average applied Carbon Price is only  $2 per tonne CO2 [22, 23] whereas the actual applied damage-related Carbon Price should be $200 per tonne CO2 [5, 24]. The World is resolutely committed to deadly Climate Inaction. It is estimated that in the absence of requisite action about 10 billion people will die in a worsening Climate Genocide this century en route to a sustainable human population in 2100 of only billion [7, 9].

Over the last 20 months the World has looked on while genocidally racist Zionist Israelis reduced  ancient, culturally super- important and populous Gaza to rubble and by 25 April 2025 had killed 680,000 Gazans through violence and imposed deprivation, the breakdown being as follows:  136,000 killed violently, 544,000 killed by imposed deprivation including  381,000 under-5 year old infants, and a total death toll of 479,000 children, 63,000 women and  138,000 men [20, 25]. This carnage has happened because the Zionist Israelis want all of Palestine plus surrounding areas between the Nile and the Euphrates but not the Indigenous inhabitants. However a further reason is that these pathological thieves, racists, liars and killers of children and mothers also want the Gaza share of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Field  [26, 27].

A common feature of the Gaza Genocide (2.4 million to be killed  or expelled) and the looming Climate Genocide (10 billion to die) is deadly global inaction: greed-driven mass killing through imposed deprivation while the World looks on impotently. The US is deeply complicit  in the Gaza Genocide by supplying bombs to Zionazi Israel,  has blocked UN Security Council action on the Palestinian Genocide, and has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement and the World Health Organization.

The World can and must act urgently by imposing rigorous Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) on genocidally racist Apartheid Israel and all people, politicians, parties, collectives, companies and countries supporting this woman- and child-killing Apartheid rogue state, most notably Zionist Americans and genocidally racist and serial war criminal America and its allies.
