Razi Muhammed’s Art Show “I Think therefore I am confused” in Kozhikode

I Think therefore I am confused” a Razi Muhammed show curated by Shihab has opened in Lalitakala Akademi Art Gallery in Kozhikode, Kerala. The show was inaugurated by Murali Cheeroth (Chairperson, Kerala Lalithakala Akademi) at Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery, Kozhikode, Kerala., in the presence of Sunil Asokapuram (Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Member),  Sudheesh (Artist), Dr. Abdul Latheef (Poet, Writer), Shihab (Curator) and friends and art lovers of Kerala. Show will continue upto 25th June 2024.

A ‘Digital Dystopia,’ that harnesses the transformative power of art to tackle pressing issues of political, social, and environmental significance. The paintings serve as a visual manifesto to confront and reflect on the complex realities of the contemporary world. The complex interplay between humanity and the world we inhabit, the powerful visual statements, detailed depictions of environmental destruction, and innovative use of digital technology all converge to create a ‘Digital Dystopia’ experience.

The images that make bold and unapologetic statements on political and social issues. These works are a testament to the ability to communicate profound messages with striking clarity. The powerful visual imagery, using vibrant colors to evoke emotion, light to accentuate pivotal moments, and intricate shapes and textures to immerse in high-detail scenes. Each piece is a dialogue in itself, addressing themes such as justice, inequality, and identity.

Delving into the concept of Homo Ecophagus, the images reflect humanity’s rapid growth, the invasive destruction of ecosystems, and the relentless homogenization of diverse environments. The medium is used to create powerful, thought-provoking visuals that capture the essence of humanity’s detrimental impact on the planet. A world where the human footprint threatens the very fabric of life on Earth. It serves as a sobering reminder of our collective responsibility to mitigate our ecological footprint.

Digital technology has embraced new tools and techniques, pushing the boundaries of the impossible. The resulting works are a fusion of imagination and innovation, showcasing unparalleled freedom. From dynamic compositions to interactive experiences, these images exemplify the new face of visual art in the digital age and its role in shaping contemporary art.

The show reflects the complex and often bewildering nature of human thought. The act of thinking will lead to clarity, but it can plunge us into deeper questions and ambiguities. Thus, “I think therefore I am confused” captures the duality of the human condition: our intellectual capabilities are both a source of enlightenment and perplexity.
