“A rehabilitation centre in Gaza has created ‘Heroes FC’, a team formed from the many amputees from Israel’s wars on Gaza and the recent violent response to protests along the border fence.” https://bit.ly/2K3FzBi
Hello Gary,
With the World Cup being on, we have been seeing a lot more of you than usual. So I have decided to take the opportunity to let you know how much I admire you: not for all your achievements in broadcasting and football, but for having had the courage to share a video of Israeli soldiers abusing Palestinian children — an act for which you were subsequently criticised. https://ind.pn/2tCdB6h
I was reminded of that act of defiance against the censorious nature of political correctness by the BBC’s recent cowardly and shameful reprimand of that fine journalist and well-known TV host Andrew Marr for claiming that Israel had killed “lots of Palestinian kids,” https://bit.ly/2MV1R6Y a statement which no decent and honest person would deny. https://bit.ly/2MrQBhu But it appears that we in Britain now live in a social environment were telling the truth and speaking up for human rights is — according to the pro-Israel media Gestapo — a serious and punishable offence.
It is of vital importance — and as an example to the rest of us — that public figures such as yourself, Andrew Marr, and Roger Waters https://bit.ly/2Kt1YoL continue speaking out against injustice and crimes against humanity because as Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “in the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” Our silence in the face of genocidal atrocities means we are guilty of complicity, a complicity with which we also silence the voices of our children and future generations.
Thank you and best wishes,
