Amit Shah in Medanta: Are our leaders born with forked tongues or they cultivate it when they become public figures?

Satyendra Jain, Delhi’s Health Minister, was on television every night for over two months harping on the impressive Covid hospitalisation facilities created in the national capital by the Kejriwal Government. He especially showcased the Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash (LNJP) Hospital as the role model in carrying out the ICMR-mandated covid care protocol.

But, look at the turn of events! When Jain was diagnosed Covid positive last month, he was immediately admitted to the LNJP, but his family members were so distressed with the hospital’s condition that he was quickly shifted to the Max in Saket, a premier private hospital.

Look at the other hero of Delhi’s valiant battle against the coronavirus: Amit Shah, the Home Minister of India and the Chief Executive for implementing the National Disaster Management Act (NDMA) which has been pressed into service to tackle the menace.

When the situation in Delhi took an alarming turn a month ago, Shah took charge, personally visited the LNJP and the AIIMS and declared that healthcare facilities in the public sector hospitals in the capital — especially to tackle covid-19 — were compared to the best anywhere in the world.

But lo and behold, when Amit Shah was tested covid positive on Sunday, he did not go either to the AIIMS or the LNJP but landed in the super-luxurious 7-star Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, a go-to place for the uber-rich.
That speaks for itself. One wonders if our leaders are born with forked tongues or they cultivate it when they become public figures!

The above were the observations of Mr. Nalini Ranjan Mohanty, a Delhi-based senior journalist, in a Facebook posting.

But this is nothing new for us.

India’s first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad had underwent an eye operation in a private clinic and received severe banging from Dr. Rammanohar Lohia.

Railway Minister Piyush Goel in Nov 2017 had developed some stomach problem when he was in Mumbai. He was rushed to Breach Candy hospital. No Railwayy hospital or Military hospital or Central govt hospital or State govt hospital in Mumbai was found fit enough to treat Goel’s stomach disorder.

There was no reaction in the electronic or print or social media over Goel’s action. The RSS severely condemned the former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee when he went abroad to treat his knee. Sangh has not criticised the 5-star Railway Minister or the 7-star Home Minister.

So we admit that all men are equal. But there are some who are more equal than the others.

Gandhiji said, ‘My life is my message’. But what type of mesaage is given by these politicians to the countrymen?

No state hospital in Chennai is fit to treat Governor Purohit

TN Governor Banwarilal Purohit tested positive for Coronavirus on Sunday. He visited a pvt hospital (Kauvery Hospital) for tests & assessments. Was declared asymptomatic & clinically stable. He would be monitored by Kauvery Hospital medical team.
