So, they put the oxymoron of a ‘ Constitutional Lawyer’ into the US House of Representatives Speaker’s Chair. Mike Johnson, looking so nerdy with his too neat attire , is ready to take America back into the Dark Ages of Reason. As the late, great Spencer Tracy, portraying attorney Clarence Darrow at the Scopes Monkey Trial, put it with the necessary rancor: ” And with banners flying and with drums beating we’ll go marching backwards, backwards through that glorious age of that 16th century where bigots burnt a man who dared to bring enlightenment and intelligence to the human mind!!” Good ole Mike is making his first order of business as Speaker to make sure that we stand with Israel all the way… regardless of how many innocent ‘ Open Air Prisoners’ in Gaza are destroyed by their missiles and bombs. This is a man who admit tingly wants to transform America into a Christian nation. How about those apples Israel? Imagine standing for Israel and then letting the Israeli Jews know where we stand.
Johnson is obsessed , along with his far right wing Christian colleagues, about fetuses in the womb ready to lose that DNA God gave them. Mike, how about the scores of Palestinian babies both IN the womb and just OUT of the womb who lost their DNA via Israeli bombardment? The late (not so great) Donald Rumsfeld liked to refer to such things as Collateral Damage. You know, going after that ‘ needle in the haystack ‘ means destroying the entire haystack! Just like those from the other side of the Two Party/One Party menagerie, the few thousand members of HAMAS fighters are joined to the hip with a couple of million ‘ Open Air Prisoners ‘ in Gaza… and that’s OK to think that way.
Does anyone still recall that Saddam Hussein was accused of being in league with Al-Qaeda when in reality he was its mortal enemy? Yes sir, my country has its own skeletons to deal with, and we can delve back anywhere in our nation’s history. Let’s look at ‘ The good war, WW2’. Did the school books we had read in high school mention the fire bombings of Dresden and Cologne, and of course the ‘built on wood ‘ city of Tokyo? We need not even to mention the A bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the fact that Truman sent them to let the Soviets know we could make one, and more than one. Just look at the pictures of Japanese people with three eyes and no arms. Whoever said that ‘ Revenge is sweet’ must have known American history.
As all this new Speaker of the House baloney was going on, a deranged 40 year old gunman, with the usual assault rifle, shot up a bar and a bowling alley, killing 18 people and wounding a myriad more. Robert Card, ( believe it or not) an Army firearms instructor, actually spent 2 weeks in a mental health facility under observation this past Summer. How in the hell did this guy get an assault rifle after that? How will our new Speaker Johnson react to that? Perhaps Mr. Johnson should use his new power to make sure that funding increases dramatically for mental health counseling throughout our society, and that tighter gun control legislation is passed.
