Mere Ghar Aake To Dekho’ is a national campaign in which people belonging to different religions and castes visit each other’s homes to annihilate communal hatred. This campaign was initiated by the eminent social activist Shabnam Hashmi, who has been active in the fight against communal forces in India since 1981. Shabnam Hashmi talks about the dangers India will face if the Sangh Parivar again comes to power and how important the 2024 elections are. She also discusses the positive response that the ‘Mere Ghar Aake To Dekho’ campaign has generated.
“If they return to power, our constitution will no longer exist. They have already started working on an alternate Constitution based on Manusmriti. Their ideology is extremely regressive, therefore ensuring their defeat in 2024 is very important.
It’s time for all people who believe in democracy and opposition parties to stand together and strengthen the INDIA front. We must strengthen unity among communities by visiting each other’s homes. Speak up the truth fearlessly without any fear of the consequences. If the NDA comes back to power, many of us will be jailed and silenced. So let us not die in silence as cowards. If we have to die, let’s die fighting. If we fight together we can defeat them as we defeated the British. Fascism will be defeated if the people of this country unite.” she asserts fearlessly in her talk.
