The horror of the Gaza Genocide continues to worsen. As of Day 70, and considering the 8,000 buried in rubble, Occupied Palestinian deaths totalled 34,000 including 13,000 child deaths. This ever-worsening atrocity is succinctly compared quantitatively below to genocidal WW2 and post-WW2 atrocities. Ceasefire Now is insufficient – humanity demands that the World must enforce an immediate end to the US-backed Israeli Occupation by Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS).
Euro-Med Human Rights (15 December): “Israel has killed nearly 25,000 Palestinians, including about 10,000 children, during its 70-day genocide against civilians in the Gaza Strip that was launched on 7 October, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor estimated in a statement issued on Friday. As of Thursday 14 December, 24,711 Palestinians had been killed, the human rights organisation said. 92% of those killed in the Israeli air and artillery attacks on the Gaza Strip were civilians, including 9,643 children, 3,109 women, 210 health personnel, and 83 journalists. Meanwhile, 50,112 Palestinians have been injured, with hundreds of them being critically wounded, said Euro-Med Monitor. This number includes thousands of victims who are still stuck under the rubble of buildings, while hundreds more remain uncounted, but are likely either trapped under rubble or injured in the streets. Euro-Med Monitor estimates also indicate that there are more than 1.850 million displaced people in the Gaza Strip who remain without a safe shelter amid inhumane conditions” [1].
Al Jazeera (16 December): “More than 8,000 people are missing under the rubble from Israel’s incessant bombardment of Gaza, about 70 percent being women and children, a Hamas official says” [2].
This is my considered take on the events of 7 October , the ostensible “excuse” for Apartheid Israel’s ongoing genocide of Occupied Palestinians in Gaza: “1,200 Israeli Occupiers killed on 7 October with quite possibly most having been killed in the Israel Defence Force (IDF) response to the Palestinian breakout from the Gaza Concentration Camp. Of the 1,200 Israelis killed 84.2% (1,010) were 18-39 years old (i.e. were current Israeli military, conscripts or reservists), 13.3% (160) were 40 and older (with most being former or existing military), and 2.5% (30) were aged under 18 (children) i.e. over 84% of those killed were legitimate military targets as serving Occupying forces” (for details and documentation see [3]).
As of Day 70 (14 December), Palestinian dead in and near Gaza = 24,711 + 1,500 (fighters killed in Israel on 7 October) + 8,000 (dead in rubble) = 34,211.
Child deaths total 9,643 + 3,520 (children dead in rubble i.e. 44% of the 8,000 dead in rubble) = 13,163.
The Occupied/ Occupier Reprisals Death Ratio = 34,211/ 1,200 = 28.5 (nearly 3 times greater than the Occupied/ Occupier Reprisals Death Ratio of 10 ordered by Nazi leader Hitler and carried out in the 1944 Ardeatine Cave Massacre [4]). Nazi is as Nazi does.
13,163 Palestinian children have been killed in reprisals for 30 Israeli children killed on 7 October i.e. 439 Palestinian children killed for every Israeli child killed (noting that many Israeli children may have been killed by the IDF in the overwhelming tank shelling and helicopter missile IDF response).
Children killed per day was 1,000 (for Jewish children in WW2) and is 13,163/70 = 188 (7 October – 14 December 2023 for Occupied Palestinian children in Gaza).
Apartheid Israel vows to continue the destruction of Gaza and the mass murder of its Occupied Palestinian inhabitants, about half of whom are now starving. There is a huge potential death toll involving massive avoidable deaths from imposed deprivation [5]. However it is useful to make comparisons now with similar atrocities within living memory – some bigger, some smaller – in the hope that this will impel a horrified world to take effective action now to stop the Gaza Genocide with the death toll at Day 70 at up to 34,000 killed so far out of a population of 2.3 million (i.e. 1.5% of the population presently killed), 2 million rendered homeless, and the Gazans being genocidally forced to southern Gaza (and ultimately possibly forced into the Sinai desert as in a secret plan favoured by the Israeli authorities). However in the absence of effective global action to end the killing and the Occupation, huge numbers of Palestinians will perish.
(1). Guernica, Spain, 1936 (28% of the population killed). The Spanish Basque town of Guernica had a population in 1936 of 6,000 but on 26 April 1936 it was subject to massive bombing by the Nazi German Luftwaffe and the fascist Italian air force. 1,654 civilians were killed or 28% of the population [6]. This atrocity was immortalized by Pablo Picasso in his famous anti-war painting “Guernica” now in Madrid [7]. I discovered the underlying geometry in Picasso’s “Guernica” and used it to create a huge, colourful, Resurrection-theme painting based on “Guernica” but called “Qana” and about the repeated destruction of the Lebanese town of Qana by Apartheid Israeli bombing [8, 9].
(2). Lidice, Czechoslovakia, 1942 (68% of the populace killed). In response to the killing of top Nazi official SS General Rainer Heydrich, the 500 inhabitants of Lidice were assembled, 173 men and boys were killed, women were sent to concentration camps, and young children were “Germanized” or killed. Only 143 women and 17 children survived the war i.e. 68% of the inhabitants of Lidice were killed [10].
(3). Babi Yar, Kyiv, USSR, 1941-1943 (56% of Jews killed in the first massacre; 33% of population and most Jews killed overall ). Before the Nazi German invasion there were 160,000 Jews in Kyiv, or 20% of the population of 800,000. 100,000 Jews fled leaving 60,000 behind, and 500,000 Kyivans fled leaving a total population of about 300,000 at the mercy of the Nazis. On September 29–30, 1941 33,771 Jews were shot at the Babi Yar ravine (56% of the Jewish population killed over 2 days). The killing of Jews, Roma and Soviet prisoners of war continued until liberation by the Red Army, with about 100,000 Kyivans killed (33% of the population) [11].
(4). Odessa, Ukraine, USSR, 1941-1943 (43% of Jews killed in initial massacre). Pre-war there were 200,000 Jews in Odessa or about one third of the population of 600,000. 120,000 Jews fled the Nazis leaving 80,000 at the mercy of the Nazi Germans and Romanians. On October 22-24 1941 up to 34,000 Jews or 43% of the Jewish population were massacred by Germans and Romanians. The killing continued with 100,000 Jews killed in Odessa and nearby areas before liberation by the Red Army [12].
(5). Vilna massacres, Lithuania, USSR, 1941-1944 (54% of the pre-war Jewish population killed). From June 1941 until July 1944 over 75,000 people were murdered in Ponary, most of whom were Jewish, the others were Soviet prisoners of war and local anti-Nazis. The prewar Jewish population of Lithuania was 140,000 [13].
(6). WW2 Jewish Holocaust (5.1 -5.8 million killed out of an 8.7 million pre-war Jewish population of Nazi-occupied countries i.e. 59-67% killed). The country-by-country breakdown is as follows for “Jews killed as a proportion of the pre-WW2 Jewish population”: France (65,000/300,000 or 21.7%), Belgium (28,000/ 85,000 or 32.9%), Holland (104,000/140,000 or 74.3%), Denmark (100/6,000 or 1.7%; most Jews fled to Sweden), Germany (180,000/250,000 or 72.0% ), Austria (60,000/70,000 or 85.7%), Czechoslovakia (60,000/81,000 or 74.1%), Hungary (200,000/710,000 or 28.2%), Poland (2,600,000/ 3,000,000 or 86.7%), Yugoslavia (58,000/70,000 or 82.9%), Greece (60,000/67,000 or 89.6%), Romania (750,000/1,000,000 or 95.0%), Bulgaria (40,000/48,000 or 83.3%), Lithuania (104,000/140,000 or 74.3%), Latvia (70,000/100,000 or 70.0%), Nazi-occupied USSR (750,000/2,500,000 or 30.0%), and Italy (9,000/120,000 or 7.5%) [14-16].
(7). Siege of Leningrad, USSR, 1941-1944 (32% of population killed). The 872 day siege of Leningrad by the Nazis was from 8 September 1941 until 27 January 1944. The prewar population was 3.1-3.4 million, 1.7 million were evacuated, and over 1 million died in the siege (642,000) and the evacuation (400,000) [17].
(8). Warsaw Ghetto, Poland, 1940- 1942 (most of the 0.4 million Jewish inmates were eventually killed). In October 1940 the Warsaw Ghetto containing 400,000 Jews was sealed off , starved and depleted by mass deportations to death camps. The surviving 35,000 revolted and nearly all were eventually killed [18].
(9). Warsaw Uprising, Poland, August-October 1944 (most eventually killed). Warsaw was demolished, about 200,000 were killed and 174,000 survivors were sent to death in concentration camps. Most of the pre-war Warsaw population of 1.2 million was killed [18].
(10). Caen, France, 1944 (city destroyed, 2,000 killed). In the battle for this strategically key Normandy city (June to August 1944) Caen was largely destroyed by Allied bombing and shelling. The population of Caen fell from 60,000 to 15,000. and 2,000 citizens were killed [19].
(11). Dutch Famine, 1944-1945 (20,000 died). Food scarcity became increasingly prevalent during the war due to economic diversion and bombing of transport networks. Food was a crucial resource during WW2 and indeed after WW2 [20-24] and Lara Feigel has written: “According to the euphemistically named “Hunger Plan”, developed by German minister Herbert Backe, the conquest of Russia would render Germany self-sufficient. The Germans would starve millions of Russians to death and turn large parts of the country into a giant farm. Backe’s plan was partly successful, in that millions of Russians starved. However, as the battle dragged on, the German soldiers could barely feed themselves, let alone send enough home to feed Germany. Hitler was faced with a food crisis, and it was partly as a solution to this strategic problem that he decided to exterminate the Jews” [24]. The dire consequences of food shortages were exampled by starvation in Nazi concentration camps and the Dutch Famine of 1944-1945 [25].
(12). Bombing of cities in WW2. Upper estimates of civilian deaths from Allied bombing in WW2 include 67,000 (France), 635,000 (Germany), 900,000 (Japan), and 100,000 (Italy). Axis bombing killed 350,000 (China) and 60,000 (UK) [26, 27]. The upper estimates of people killed in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are of 140,000 and 70,000 , respectively [28]. The notorious Allied bombing of non-strategic Dresden killed about 35,000 people [29].
(13 ). Nanjing Massacre, China, 1937-1938 (300,000 killed). Up to 300,000 Chinese died in the rape of Nanjing by the Japanese army from December 1937–January 1938) [30].
(14). Century-long Palestinian Genocide compared to WW2 holocausts. The WW1 onwards Palestinian Genocide has been associated about 2 million deaths from violence and imposed deprivation (0.1 million violent deaths) [31, 32]. Deaths from violence and deprivation in the following major WW2 holocausts are given in brackets: WW2 in Europe (40 million), WW2 in Asia (50 million), WW2 Polish Holocaust (6 million), WW2 Jewish Holocaust (5-6 million), WW2 European Holocaust (30 million), WW2 Soviet Holocaust (27 million), WW2 Chinese Holocaust (35-40 million), and the Allied-imposed WW2 Bengali Holocaust (WW2 Indian Holocaust, WW2 Bengal Famine; 6-7 million Indians deliberately starved to death in Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Assam in 1942-1945 for strategic reasons by US ally Britain with food-denying Australian and US complicity) [33-40].
(15). Post-WW2 US invasion and bombing of numerous countries. Since WW2 the US (variously with allies) has invaded 52 countries and devastated many through aerial bombing, with the worst atrocities summarized here (dates and deaths from violence and deprivation in brackets): Korea (1950-1953, 5 million), Vietnam (1945-1975, 15 million), Laos (1955-1975, 1 million; more bombs dropped on Laos than in all of WW2), Cambodia (1969-1998, 6 million), Iraq (1990 onwards, 5 million), Afghanistan (2001-2021, 7 million) ), Somalia (1992 onwards, 2 million), Libya (2011, 0.2 million; formerly the richest country in Africa), and Syria (2012 onwards; 1 million). 40 million Asians have died from violence and deprivation in post-1950 US Asian wars [5]. 32 million Muslims have died from violence, 5 million, and deprivation, 27 million, in 20 countries invaded by the US Alliance since the US Government’s 9/11 false flag atrocity that killed 3,000 innocent Americans [41, 42].
(16). Post-WW2 genocidal mass population expulsions of Palestinians and others. British-imposed Partition killed 1 million and involved mass expulsion of 18 million Indians. US subversions and wars generated scores of millions of refugees notably from the Congo, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. The number of people forcibly displaced is now over 110.3 million, with over 36.4 million refugees (as recognized by UN agencies) and 62.5 million Internally Displaced Persons [43]. The Palestinians suffered 3 major population expulsions: the 1948 Nakba or Catastrophe (800,000 or 60% of the Indigenous Palestinian population expelled with 15,000 killed in the process), the 1967 Naksa or Setback (400,000 expelled), and the present Gaza Genocide (about 2 million expelled from their homes to southern Gaza and facing the real prospect of total ethnic cleansing from Palestine into the Sinai desert ) [31, 32, 44]. Of 15 million mostly impoverished Palestinians, there are presently 7 million Exiled Palestinians (most in refugee camps in the Middle East), 5.6 million Occupied Palestinians (including many refugees, 3.3 million being remorselessly forced off their land in the West Bank, and 2.3 million Gazans now being ethnically cleansed from their homes in Palestine for the second time in 75 years), and 2 million Israeli Palestinians (Third Class citizens under 60 Nazi-style, race-based discriminatory laws and under perpetual threat of ethnic cleansing by the genocidally racist Zionazis.
(17). The destruction of the ancient and populous cities of Gaza, Mosul and Fallujah. The world is witnessing the Israeli total destruction of Gaza , a city of 2.3 million people and dating back 3,000 years. However the Zionist-backed, US-imposed Iraqi Holocaust (5 million deaths from violence and deprivation, 1990 onwards) was associated with the two-times destruction of Fallujah (the ancient City of Mosques) and the substantial destruction of Mosul (near Nineveh, the capital of ancient Assyria) that was associated with 40,000 Iraqis killed out of the 2 million population of Mosul [45-47]. These ancient cities are part of the Fertile Crescent in which the Agrarian Revolution of these Semitic people generated agriculture, cities and huge advances such as writing, mathematics and astronomy. However in just 1 century this Fertile Crescent has been devastated by the British, French, Americans and the non-Semitic Ashkenazi Jewish settler-colonialists. The Ashkenazi Jews (who run Apartheid Israel and have huge influence in the West) descend from non-Semitic, Turkic Khazar converts to Judaism in the 9th century CE . I come from a very famous Ashkenazi Jewish Hungarian family but DNA testing shows that I am mostly Ashkenazi Jewish but have zero Middle Eastern (Semitic) contribution.
Final comments and conclusions.
The Zionazi Israelis reject Ceasefire demands and with huge US military and diplomatic backing are ethnically cleansing Gaza. There is a horrible prospect of complete ethnic cleansing of the whole Occupied Palestinian Territory. Zionist leaders from Zionism founder, Theodor Herzl, to the present Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu, have explicitly advocated expulsion of the Indigenous Palestinian inhabitants. [48] . Indeed a former US UN Ambassador and US Ambassador to Apartheid Israel, Tom Pickering, has adumbrated eventual complete ethnic cleansing of the Occupied Palestinian Territories [48] .
The utterly awful Gaza Genocide presently involves 34,000 dead including 13,000 children, 50,000 wounded, 2 million homeless, and a deadly siege with mass deprivation of water, food, shelter, sanitation, medical requisites and medical help. It is realistically feared that starvation, disease and lack of medical help will cause a deadly catastrophe approaching the worst outlined above on top of the ongoing bombing and shelling.
Most countries of the world with the unforgivable exception of neo-Nazi Apartheid Israel, neo-Nazi America and the neo-Nazi US Alliance, demand an immediate Ceasefire – but that is not enough. What is needed is not just Ceasefire Now to stop the killing but an immediate end to the 56-year Occupation Now – Zionazi Israel Out Now (ZION) – so that water, food, shelter, medical requisites and medical help can be immediately and massively provided for the Occupied Palestinians to stop the looming prospect of huge deaths from deprivation and disease.
The world must demand Zionazi Israelis Out Now (ZION) so that specialist international teams can recover all the bodies from the rubble, and expert forensic teams can identify all bodies and determine the extent of this horrendous and utterly unforgivable war crime.
The World has 2 kinds of people, those opposed to the killing of children and the “others”. Zionist-subverted and US lackey Australia is second only to the US as a fervent supporter of Apartheid Israel and hence of the utterly vile crime of Apartheid. Decent Australians will have zero tolerance at the ballot box for the “others” – the Zionist-subverted Koalition (Coalition), Independent and Labor Liars (KILLs) in the Federal Parliament who are complicit in this ongoing atrocity. Only the Greens and Socialists are innocent of this gross violation of Humanity as the world looks on. Decent people in the Anglosphere countries must act to utterly reject the pro-Apartheid Israel, pro-Apartheid and hence neo-Nazi Western political duopolies such as the Republicans/Democrats in the US, the Tories/Labour in the UK, and the Coalition/Labor in Australia. The pro-Apartheid Anglosphere democracies need de-Nazification.
What must decent people do? The world united after the 1960 Sharpeville Massacre (69 Africans killed) to boycott Apartheid South Africa and eventually bring down the evil Apartheid regime. In response to the worsening Gaza Genocide (34,000 killed so far) the world must act urgently by (a) informing everyone they can, and (b) urging and applying Sanctions, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against genocidally racist and neo-Nazi Apartheid Israel and against all people, politicians, parties, collectives, companies and countries supporting this neo-Nazi rogue state in any way. Silence is complicity.

Dr Gideon Polya taught science students at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia over 4 decades. He published some 130 works in a 5 decade scientific career, notably a huge pharmacological reference text “Biochemical Targets of Plant Bioactive Compounds” (2003). He has also published “Body Count.
