Shri Rajiv Kumar
Chief Election Commissioner
Dear Shri Rajiv Kumar,
I am sure the Election Commission is fully aware of the following report
Delhi BJP to hold mega gathering of Hindu saints and seers at IGI stadium ahead of LS polls
https://dhunt.in/U49qr
By Press Trust of India (PTI) via Dailyhunt
This is yet another instance of how the Commission’s inaction on complaints against BJP invoking religion to garner votes has encouraged that party to become more and more defiant of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
Invoking religion for votes also amounts to a corrupt practice as defined in Section 123 of the Representation of People Act.
Would the Commission function in a partisan manner and acquiesce in this or feel committed to the mandate under Article 324?
Please remember that your decisions on such matters are under public scrutiny and it is for you to gain or lose credibility as a Constitutional authority.
