For nearly 30 years I have been researching and writing about horrendous war crimes and climate criminality of the Anglosphere (US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) but a dozen years ago was rendered effectively invisible in war criminal, climate criminal and look-the-other-way Australia. Now my detailed and documented Submissions on Australian war crimes and Carbon Debt to the newly formed Australian National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) have been rejected.
Australia is a Federation of 6 States and 2 Territories that variously have anti-corruption bodies. However the most newsworthy anti-corruption body has been that of the biggest state New South Wales (NSW). The NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has great powers for compelling witnesses, phone-tapping, other investigative measures, secret hearings, and public hearings. Thus, for example, a conservative Coalition NSW Premier resigned after ICAC investigations revealed that he had forgotten to disclose the gift of a A$3,000 bottle of wine. A further conservative NSW Premier resigned after ICAC made public a private phone conversation in which the Premier told a very close friend with business interests “I don’t want to know about that”. It must be stated that neither of these well-regarded, upstanding and effective premiers was indicted for any crime.
After the new Federal Labor Government was elected in May 2022 it sought to introduce a Federal anti-corruption body with strong powers. However this Labor proposal was strenuously opposed by the Coalition Opposition which in particular objected to reputational damage from public hearings as exampled by the cases of the 2 NSW premiers. Accordingly the powers of the Australian National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) were softened so that, most notably, public hearings would only occur in exceptional circumstances.
The Federal Australian NACC was finally up and running in mid-2023 and sought Submissions from concerned citizens. The NACC provides an on-line Submission Form but unfortunately limits each Submission to 5,000 characters. I prepared 5 huge Submissions to the NACC with each involving about 5,000 words and circa 100 references. I got around this character limit problem by first publishing each detailed and documented Submission on Countercurrents and then providing the reference and URL link to the full Submission in the on-line Submission Form. The shocking details of my 5 Submissions are very briefly summarized below in chronological order (the 2 Submissions rejected by the NACC to date are asterisked).
(1). “Submission To National Anti-Corruption Commission: Australian Labor Government’s Lying For Apartheid Israel” (22 July 2023). On a bipartisan Coalition Opposition and Labor Government basis, Zionist-subverted and US-beholden Australia is second only to the US as a fervent a supporter of Apartheid Israel and hence of the evil crime of Apartheid that is condemned by the International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid. The sine qua non of Australian politics is fervent support for the Zionist-subverted US and for Apartheid Israel. Departure from this unprincipled principle means political oblivion noting that Australian Federal MPs receive 6 figure salaries as well as generous perks and pensions. While MPs and governments can and do hold all kinds of repugnant opinions and loyalties, they should not lie and benefit from lying (fraud and corruption) and should not lie in the interest of inimical foreign governments (treason, one of the very worst of crimes). In short, Apartheid Israel and its Zionist agents have damaged Australians, Australian institutions and Australia in numerous serious ways. The Submission documents the Australian Labor Government’s lying for Apartheid Israel in 15 areas [1]. One notes the complicity of Mainstream Australian journalists, editors, politicians, academics, public servants, lobbyists and government advisors in this fraud, corruption and conceivable treason.
*(2). “Submission To Australian National Anti-Corruption Commission Over Huge But Ignored Australian War Crimes” (2 August 2023). Variously as UK or US lackeys Australians have invaded about 85 countries with 30 of these invasions being genocidal. In the last 80 years (i.e. within living memory) Australia has violated all circa 80 Indo-Pacific countries variously through occupation and invasion (most countries), complicity in US regime-changing coups (8 countries), and through disproportionate climate criminality (impacting all countries). In stark contrast, the excellent Brereton Report (headed by the same Judge and Major-General Paul Brereton now heading NACC) found evidence that 39 Afghans had been unlawfully killed by Australian soldiers, one solder has been charged, and a further soldier has been declared to have committed such crimes by a judge in making his decision in a reportedly A$30 million-cost defamation proceedings. However successive Australian Governments and their public servants have grossly violated Articles 55 and 56 of the Fourth Geneva Convention by criminally rejecting their unequivocal demand for Occupier provision to the Conquered Afghan Subjects of life-sustaining food and medical services “to the fullest extent of the means available to it”. Now 6,000,000 (Afghans passively murdered by the US Alliance including Australia) / 39 (Afghans allegedly unlawfully killed by Australian soldiers) = 154,000 i.e. the passive mass murder of 6,000,000 Afghans (mostly women and children) by Australian and US Alliance politicians is 154,000 times worse than the alleged unlawful killing of 39 Afghans by Australian soldiers [2].
Of course all war crimes should be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators tried and punished, but in my opinion no Australian soldier should be tried for any of these 39 alleged unlawful killings of Afghans before the politicians complicit in the 154,000 times greater war crime (the passive mass murder of 6,000,000 Afghans) are exposed and tried (several veterans have privately strongly agreed with me). Australian mendacity and serial war criminality has now been expressed in the nuclear-armed Australia-UK-US (AUKUS) Alliance that is associated with making Australia a key nuclear target, nuclear weapons on B52s and US warships in Australian territory, A$400 billion (A$20 billion per year for 20 years) for 8 nuclear-powered but likely AI-detectable submarines, and a consequent huge long-term contribution to 100,000 Australian avoidable deaths annually from “life-style choice” and “political choice” reasons. Nuclear weapons represent a key existential threat to Humanity and the Biosphere [2].
*(3). “Submission To Australian National Anti-Corruption Commission: Corporations & Governments Ignore Huge Carbon Debt” (19 August 2023). Australia is among world-leading climate criminal countries in 16 areas. Corporations, governments and Mainstream media conspire to fraudulently and corruptly ignore Australia’s huge and inescapable Carbon Debt that totals (USD) about $5 trillion, is increasing at up to about $0.7 trillion each year, and at $69,000 per head per year for under-30 year old Australians. The Carbon Debt of the World is $250 trillion and increasing at $13 trillion each year. This is appalling intergenerational injustice because this ever-increasing and inescapable Carbon Debt will have to be paid by our children, grandchildren and future generations. The damage-related Carbon Price is about $200 per tonne CO2-equivalent but the global applied average is merely $2 per tonne CO2-equivalent. A general principle of national law and the Natural Law is that people are recompensed in full for damage done to them by others but this is rejected in relation to deadly Carbon Pollution by a greedy, fraudulent, corrupt, and traitorous Australian Mainstream (except notably for the sensible, science-informed and humane Australian Greens). Carbon Pollution from carbon fuel burning kills about 7 million people each year but the previous Liberal Party-National Party Coalition Government’s response to the IMF demand to adopt a modest $75 per tonne CO2-equivalent Carbon Price to save 4 million lives by 2030 was a simple “No”. The present climate criminal Labor Government ignores Australia’s huge exported greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution and supports over 100 new coal and gas extraction projects.
In stark contrast to these dangerously greedy, half-witted and corrupt effective climate change deniers of Lobbyocracy Australia, one of the world’s greatest minds, Stephen Hawking, has stated: “We see great peril if governments and societies do not take action now to make nuclear weapons obsolete and to prevent further climate change”. Rejection of a damage-related Carbon Price translates precisely to huge Carbon Debt to be paid by future generations – horrendous criminal and fraudulent intergenerational theft and injustice. As enunciated by science-trained Pope Francis, the damage must be “fully borne” by the polluters, a position backed by the world’s scientists and science-informed economists, notably Professor James Hansen (Columbia), Dr Chris Hope (Cambridge) and Lord Nicholas Stern (LSE; ignoring the externality of environmental damage has been the “greatest market failure in history”). Australia has 0.33% of the world’s population but its annual Domestic plus Exported GHG pollution is 5.4% of the World’s total annual GHG pollution. In the absence of requisite action (atmospheric GHG pollution is increasing at a record high rate) the direst expert prediction is that 10 billion people will die this century in a worsening Climate Genocide en route to a sustainable population in 2100 of only 1 billion people [3].
(4). “Submission To Australian National Anti-Corruption Commission: Huge & Fraudulent University Fees Exposed” (2 September 2023). Education is a basic human right and all education should be free for all. However the commodification and corporatizing of higher education has meant that free university education presently only obtains in about 25 countries. Australian universities charge impoverished local and overseas students hugely excessive tuition fees whereas Accredited Remote Learning (ARL) can deliver top quality, reading-based courses and accrediting examinations essentially for free. All societies and nations need to have a large complement of expert scholars and scientists for a variety of economic, health, national security and national prestige reasons. However, one must ask why impoverished, circa 20 year old undergraduate students barely out of childhood should have to pay for this complement of experts that disproportionately and immediately benefits the society-dominating, mature adult population and the richer and older citizens in particular. Tertiary education provision in Australia can be vastly cheaper off-campus than on-campus. Thus off-campus university education can be essentially cost-free by simply involving students reading proscribed texts and addressing other teaching materials, with qualifications established by expert accrediting examinations. This indeed was the de facto scheme during the Covid-19 Pandemic except that huge full fees were dishonestly applied to local and overseas students. In contrast, full-time, fee paying on-campus tertiary education involves huge loss of income for students, massive discrimination against disabled, impoverished and other disadvantaged students, a huge annual university support cost (A$36.6 billion in Australia in financial year 2019-20), and huge student fees (A$20.1 billion in 2019/20). University fees were abolished by the reformist Whitlam Labor Government but were reintroduced by the neoliberal Hawke Labor Government with a student loan scheme (initially called HECS and later HELP). The student HECS/HELP debt presently totals A$74 billion, a massive fraud perpetrated on Australian students, and indeed one of the biggest frauds in Australian history [4].
(5). “Submission To Australian National Anti-Corruption Commission, NACC: Mainstream Media Lying” (21 September 2023). Australian Mainstream media (MSM) have an appalling and ongoing record of lying by omission and lying by commission. Lying by omission is far, far worse than repugnant lying by commission because the latter at least permits public refutation and public debate (subject, of course, to the will of MSM gate-keepers). Democracy ideally requires an informed electorate but driven by ever-increasing wealth inequity Western democracies (including Australia) have become kleptocracies, plutocracies, Murdochracies. lobbyocracies, corporatocracies and dollarocracies in which Big Money corruptly purchases public perception of reality, votes, more political power and hence more private profit. Indeed famed French economist Thomas Piketty has described how wealth inequity is bad for the economy (the poor cannot afford to buy the goods and services they produce) and bad for democracy (Big Money buys votes). The Submission gave numerous documented examples of Australian MSM lying e.g. item #17: Australian MSM reported extensively on the $500 million Royal Commission into Institutional Child Abuse that was confined to institutional abuses (e.g. about 40,000 such cases involving Catholic religious over 40 years). However expert research in America indicated that 25% of females and 10% of males (an average of 17.5% of adults) experienced childhood sexual abuse in the US, and a study in Australia indicated that 34% of females and 16% of males (an average of 25% of adults or about 4.4 million adults in 2014) experienced child sexual abuse. Expert Australian medical testimony was that child sexual abuse is associated with a circa 10-20 year life expectancy gap. By largely concentrating on institutional child sexual abuse, it is possible that Australian governments and MSM are ignoring all but a few per cent of horrendous child sexual abuse in Australia.
By way of expert opinion, Peter Carey (famed Australian writer) (2010): “If you really want to know what’s happening [in] the world, you go out and get drunk with journalists and they will tell you what isn’t in the papers”. The US Murdoch media empire has about 70% of the Australian city daily newspaper readership. John Pilger (famed expatriate Australian journalist) on Murdochracy Australia (2010): “In 1983, there were 50 major corporations dominating the world’s media. By 2002, this had been reduced to nine. Rupert Murdoch says that eventually there will be three, including his own. If we accept this, media and information control will be the same, and we all shall be citizens of a murdochracy”. Kevin Rudd (former Labor Prime Minister of Australia and former Chair, Australians for a Murdoch Royal Commission) in demanding an Inquiry(2021): “An open public inquiry… We don’t need another boutique review to be ignored or manipulated. We’ve tried that too many times, and it has delivered us the most concentrated media industry of any democracy on Earth”. Malcolm Turnbull (former Coalition Prime Minister of Australia, present co-chair, Australians for a Murdoch Royal Commission) and Sharan Burrow (co-chair, Australians for a Murdoch Royal Commission, former general secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation and a former president of the Australian Council of Trade Unions): “Murdoch’s News Corp long ago abandoned its commitment to truth. Newsrooms once staffed by the nation’s best journalists have been hollowed out, replaced in many cases by extreme political activists. The company’s claims of editorial independence are farcical” [5].
Publicly-funded media such as the ABC (the Australian Broadcasting Corporation; Australia’s equivalent of the UK BBC) and SBS (Australia’s excellent multicultural broadcasting organization with significant taxpayer funding) are meant to be unbiased although individual journalists can have certain opinions and biases. However lying by omission and lying by commission by taxpayer-funded media is fraud and corruption when perpetrated for personal gain on the taxpayer, and treason when perpetrated in the interests of inimical foreign governments such as those of Apartheid Israel and pro-Apartheid America. Experience of Australian MSM mendacity over many decades instructs that the serious examples of fraud, corruption and treason in my 5 Submissions will be resolutely ignored by cowardly and mendacious Australian MSM presstitutes. This Submission suggested that Australia can be saved from fraudulent MSM in part by (a) publicly exposing and listing all MSM falsehoods on the Web, and (b) banning foreign MSM ownership [5].
Final comments.
In a distillation of about 30 years of largely futile telling Truth to Power in Australia I have made 5 detailed and documented Submission to the newly formed Australian National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). However my Submissions on horrendous Australian war crimes (Submission #2: 6 million Afghan avoidable deaths from deprivation under Australian and US Alliance occupation in gross violation of Articles 55 and 56 of the Fourth Geneva Convention)[2] and on horrendous, planet-threatening Carbon Debt (Submission #3: an enormous $5 trillion fraud perpetrated on Australian children, grandchildren and future generations) [3] were rejected by the NACC on the basis that the NACC had “not been able to identify a clear allegation of corrupt conduct as defined by the National Anti-Corruption Commission Act (2022). As a result, the Commission is unable to take any further action in this matter”.
One almost despairs at this bald denial and deadly Kafkaesque myopia. One is reminded of George Orwell’s novel “1984” in which Big Brother asserted “Slavery is Freedom, Ignorance is Strength, War is Peace and 2 plus 2 does not equal 4” [6]. One is also reminded of Samuel Butler’s “Erewhon” (roughly “nowhere” in reverse) in which murderous sociopaths were lavished with great praise, kindness and honour, while the sick were persecuted in direct proportion to the severity of their illness [7]. Pertinent to myopia, just prior to the 2007 Australian Federal election Labor Opposition Leader (and a few months later Labor Prime Minister) Kevin Rudd made a pilgrimage to the King-making Murdoch Media Empire in New York and went out with a Murdoch editor to the Scores nightclub that featured near naked women. In the subsequent media storm Kevin Rudd claimed that he hadn’t seen any breasts but nevertheless apologized [8]. I made a cartoon showing Kevin Rudd with dark glasses, a white cane and the Holy Bible, and surrounded in Scores by bare-breasted near-naked women with the Bible-paraphrasing caption: “Though I walk through the valley of breasts I will see no evil” [9].
The Awful Reality betters utterly implausible satire in look-the-other-way Australia. The Federal NACC rejects Submissions dealing with horrendous war crimes (6 million Afghan deaths under Australian and US Alliance occupation in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention) and planet-killing fraud ($250 trillion in inescapable global Carbon Debt and 10 billion to die in a 21st century Climate Genocide) whereas actions by its more stringent NSW equivalent (the ICAC, the Independent Commission Against Corruption) led to the resignation of a NSW Premier (over failure to remember receiving a A$3,000 bottle of wine) and the resignation of a further NSW Premier (for telling a close friend in a telephone conversation that “I don’t want to know about that”).
Nazi dictator and mass murderer Adolph Hitler and his lieutenant Joseph Goebbels referred to the Big Lie: “The broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods” (Hitler) and “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it” (Goebbels) [10, 11]. In look-the-other-way Australia the converse applies – the bigger the Awful Truth (e.g. 6 million Afghan deaths under US Alliance occupation, and an inescapable global Carbon Debt of $250 trillion) the more assiduously and comprehensively does Mainstream Australia seek to hide it.
In desperately finding solace in humour and satire one could suggest that the NACC is knackered. While the NACC has rejected 2 of my Submissions dealing with horrendous, evil and existential realities, my remaining 3 Submissions presently remain alive for serious consideration (possibly because the fraudulent and corrupt lying reported in these Submissions has become the new normal for Trump era politicians and journalists) [10-15]. The NACC in its legal wisdom has spoken and it is now up to ordinary folk and Alternative media to do what the NACC appears unable to do in relation to horrendous Australian war crimes and terracidal Carbon Debt. Kindness and Truth are at the core of the human ethos and humanitarians must act by (a ) informing everyone they can, and (b) urging and applying Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against all people, politicians, parties, collectives, corporation and countries disproportionately involved in gross Inhumanity and egregious Lying.
